3. Quiz them on our vocabulary words of the week. (found below on the ELA page)
4. Quiz them on addition, subtraction, multiplication or division facts.
5. Have them tell you about their day and ask them to explain more about their learning.
6. Give them a huge hug and tell them how proud you are of them. We sure are!!!!

What are we Learning About?
ELA-This week our genre was fairy tales. We learned about retelling a fairy tale in correct sequence, synonyms, short vowels, vocabulary development, and how good readers make predictions, confirm and revise throughout the text. Next week we will begin Unit 1, Week 2 with a focus on the genre, realistic fiction.
See below for more details.
Math-We focused on rounding multi-digit numbers to thousands, ten thousands and hundred thousands. We took our mid-Module assessment on Friday. Next week we will move on to multi-digit whole number addition and subtraction.
Science-Last week was a continuation of our mystery science lessons about volcanoes. We compared and contrasted volcanoes that explode and those that do not. We conducted a science experiement investigating how the thickness of the lava influences the type of volcano and rock that is formed. It was goey, but fun!
Social Studies-We are excited to finally dive into our new social studies curriculum! This week we will learn how a region's geography impacts its climate, population, natural resources, landforms and waterways. We are equally excited to implement a new social studies component called, Chiefs Geography, a grade level trivia competition based on the team the Cheifs are playing that week. Your child should come home with all kinds of fun facts for you! Go Chiefs!!!
