MID-TERM GRADES WILL BE UPDATED BY TUESDAY MORNING!
We are already at midterm of Term 3. Please take a moment this week to check your student’s progress in Skyward. As a reminder, the ORHS official grade is found in Skyward. We will not be sending printed progress reports home at midterm. The last day of Term 3 will be the Friday before Spring Break, March 11th. Term-long course grades will be final at that time. The grade at that time will be a progress report at that time, as semester-long courses will end the last day of school.
If you have any questions about your child’s performance in a particular course, it is best to contact that teacher directly. If you have any difficulty accessing your student’s information in Skyward, please contact Dr. Olivia Ritter at onritter@ortn.edu.
AP TEST REGISTRATION
We will be taking payments for AP exams the week of February 28 to March 4 during lunch. This is the final window to pay your exam balances as well as order exams for your Spring semester courses. As a reminder, each exam is $96. Seminar and Research exams are $126 each. If your student is taking 4 or more exams, the first three exams are full price and the fourth and subsequent exam is $40. Please make checks payable to Oak Ridge High School.
If you have decided that you want to add an exam for a course you were in during Fall semester only and you didn’t place an order in November you may still do so, however College Board will charge a $40 late fee in addition to the price of the exam. Additionally as a reminder, if a student decides they no longer wish to take an exam that they ordered in the fall College Board will charge a $40 fee to cancel their exam.
Please make sure that you have entered join codes for ALL AP courses that you are in, even if you do not plan to take the AP exam. Mr. Foust is unable to order an exam for a student, even if they have paid, if they have not entered the join code for the course.
You can find the AP exam schedule at the link below. In April, Mr. Foust will be in contact with those students who have exam conflicts and work to get any conflicts scheduled on the makeup exam dates. Like in years past, we are working with Roane State Community College to administer all of our AP exams at the Oak Ridge campus of Roane State. More information on that to come.

If you have any questions regarding AP exams, please email Mr. Foust at djfoust@ortn.edu for assistance.

PARENTS - WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK
PARENT SCHOOL CLIMATE SURVEYS
Dear Oak Ridge Families,
Parents from all of our schools have the opportunity to participate in a School Climate Survey that has been created by the Tennessee Department Of Education (TDOE). This short survey is designed to assess the current culture of each of your children’s schools.
The Parent School Climate Surveys found at this link will open on Monday, February 7, and be available until Friday, February 11.
TDOE mandates that schools conduct an annual culture survey and allow students, staff, and parents the opportunity to provide feedback. Your input is valued, and it is important that each family take advantage of this opportunity. You can be confident that all survey responses will remain confidential, as they are conducted for the sole purpose of continued improvement. We appreciate your willingness to participate in this survey.
JACKSON WILL BE A UTC MOC AT THE NEXT LEVEL!
THE FLEA MARKET IS RETURNING!
Student Council will be opening the Oak Ridge Flea Market on Saturday March 5th. We are very excited to be back, and we need your help. The Flea Market runs every Saturday March-October in the ORHS front parking lot. Each Saturday serves as an opportunity for a club or sport to raise money by working the market. If you’re new to this process, I have included some information below.
Each vendor will owe $10 for 3 parking spots to sell their goods. All vendors are used to this process, and students will write them a small receipt.
WILDBAND RETURNS WITH THEIR 4TH ANNUAL MATTRESS FUNDRAISER!

SENIOR PARENTS - WORK ETHIC DISTINCTION CERTIFICATES
What is the certificate for?
The Oak Ridge Schools Board of Education has approved the attainment of a Work Ethic Distinction, a distinction that has been available for seniors since 2020. What it entails is students providing a certificate to potential employers that they have been demonstrating desirable work skills.
How do I earn this certificate?
Students are to attain 20 points from the list shown below the image of the certificate here. When they provide evidence of success on these measures, they will be awarded a Work Ethic Distinction Certificate that will serve as part of the student’s job application portfolio.
Logos of employers who have already indicated they are willing to grant preference in interviewing a student who presents a Work Ethic Distinction Certificate are included on the face of the certificate. The list of employers who want to join this effort is growing. An ongoing list of such partner employers will be kept at our local chambers of commerce.
Please have students download the application here and complete the applications for this distinction and return them to Dr. Holly Cross, Supervisor of Career Readiness—ORHS CS244 before April 1, 2022 for recognition at graduation.
BEN MARTIN TRACK UPDATE!
We are blown away by the generosity of our donors! Just over the weekend, we cleared the bar for our first major fundraising goal, surpassing the $9,800 needed to fully fund our brand new set of 21st century hurdles. We are so excited for these to line the track when we move into our new, cutting edge facility this June.
Thanks to you all, we are also already well on our way towards funding our much-needed new high jump pit. Right now, we only need $6,000 to hit our mark!
