For the first time in the School’s 34 year history we are offering cooking classes and learning experiences devoted to the dedicated home cook.
All classes are held at the SCS Kitchens (136 Ontario Street, Stratford).

Trade Secrets | Cast Iron Cooking: French Ovens
The French Oven (also known as the Dutch oven)
Functional and rustically attractive, this cast iron pot with an enameled coating is the workhorse of the kitchen and is perfect for making stews, braised dishes, soups and even bread! In this class, discover how to cook bread in a French oven and learn how to make a delicious Beef Bourguignon. Perfect for the beginner or intermediate home cook!

The holidays are a time to eat, drink and be merry with friends and family! But does the "drink" part of that equation furrow your brow? Not sure what to serve your guests or bring the host of your next event? Let sommelier Bob Latham guide you through the best bottles to serve with your holiday feast. Your cup will runneth over after this fun and informative two hour tasting! Perfect for the beginner to intermediate wine enthusiast.
Participants are required to be 19 years of age or older.
Cheese and charcuterie boards are provided during class.

Open Kitchen | Trade Secrets | The Drunken Fruitcake: Holiday Tipples and Libations
Are you looking to spice up your holiday get-together with something more than coffee and Irish cream or spiked eggnog? Then this is the perfect class for you! During this fun and interactive session, you'll learn how to prepare, measure, and mix delicious, holiday themed cocktails. Impress your family and friends this holiday season with some new boozy concoctions! Everyone takes home recipes and a list of bar tools needed.
A great evening on your own or with friends. Hurry! Tickets will go fast!

Open Kitchen | Home for the Holidays: Hanukkah Party!
Winter is coming and so are the holidays! As the days grow longer and we all seek out warmth and light, join us for a holiday party that highlights the the Jewish Festival of Lights, Hanukkah! Whether you are celebrating your family's long-held traditions or you want to join the fun and learn more about this festival's customs, all are welcome!
Taste traditional Hanukkah foods like sfganiyot (jelly doughnuts) and potato latkes and watch how they are made. Participate in activities from cookie decorating, to playing dreidel, to lighting the menorah; there will be plenty of food and fun for everyone to enjoy!
Bring the family! Children 12 and under are FREE!

Your party hosts include Carrie Wreford (Bradshaws & Kitchen Detail) and Randi Rudner (SCS Program Manager and Core Instructor).
The party begins at 4:00pm and ends at 7:00pm. Come and go as you wish!
Food stations will be set up throughout 136 Ontario Street.
Cash bar. Non-alcoholic drinks available at no additional cost.
