I seek first to understand, then to be understood.

It's ALL about Relationships!

STAR Conferences THIS WEEK!

This is our first time to use our Chromebooks for our STAR conferences. Students and staff will "do our best" with this new format. Please remember - FRIENDLY RELATIONSHIPS with each family is MOST IMPORTANT! We are new to using Google Classroom and sharing student work electronically. By "next year" - we'll all be amazed at our progress.

That's How Butterfield Does It!

Summative conferences to review your progress

for this school year are now open.

We will begin scheduling professional conversations

to review your progress throughout the month of April.

We are excited our FIRST EVER Butterfield "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" (HOFNOD) club has begun.

Veggies from our outdoor classroom garden were harvested and sold as part of fundraising this past weekend,

to support our club.

Thanks Sheri and Jordan for offering this wonderful

opportunity for our students.

Trivia - Did you know that the theme song to the Andy Griffith show which we recognize with the familiar whistled tune - actually has words - and guess what?

It's all about fishing. :-) Click HERE to listen.

Stay tuned to more updates as our HOFNOD club prepares

for a fishing derby in May.

I embrace a growth mindset that promotes my own and others' learning.

Schools to Watch - ELECTRONIC SURVEY - Coming Wed - April 27th

Our teachers will access and take the official Schools to Watch survey during team meetings on Wed., April 27th. We have used this self-assessment rubric as a guide in our continued process to improve our school. To prepare for the survey, feel free to access the following links to review and familiarize yourself with the "language" used in the 4 parts of the survey.

Entire "self-assessment" rubric available HERE

The data from our results will

guide our "next steps"

as we continue our school improvement journey.

ACT Aspire Update

Practicing . . . Practicing . . . Practicing . . .

Promising practice: Students using Chromebooks to practice 30 minute timed writing prompts aligned to our curriculum. Daily practice will help support our students in being ready for this writing challenge.

Updates for LiveSchool - possibilities to consider that are more manageable (yes - we have had several glitches) and support many of our systems - school-wide - under ONE umbrella. NOT adding more - but combining multiple systems (hall pass checkout, lunch detention, office referrals, HOWLs feedback, rewards, etc.). We will be asking a team of teachers to visit Darby JH and learn how their LiveSchool system has evolved to support positive behavior and manageable systems - in individual classrooms & across their school.

Go Guardian - Johnny has had a trial to Go Guardian - a web-based Chromebook management program that provides data about what our students are accessing on their Chromebooks. This system looks VERY promising! We will share with all of you - another possibility to support us in working smarter - not harder - as we consider future improvements. We can also "block" various sites (Oops - YES - we're learning - sorry for the block last Friday - we also quickly learned how to restore access :-).

I seek opportunities to show gratitude and celebrate with colleagues.
