Lucky to be part of the Center Community!
Dear Center Community,
Did you know that tomorrow 3/21 is World Down Syndrome Day? This global awareness day has been celebrated since 2012. According to the WDSD website, the date was chosen to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. On this day, people are encouraged to wear yellow and blue to raise awareness and crazy, mismatched or even an extra pair of socks. Wearing long striped socks was initiated to represent chromosomes or an extra sock to represent an extra chromosome. Here is a link to learn more about World Down Syndrome Day https://worlddownsyndromeday.org/.
Congratulations to our 1st grade students who won the PRIDE cafeteria push week. They celebrated with an extra recess on Friday.
Thank you to the twenty 4th grade students who participated in Choralfest yesterday. You treated us to some wonderful music. Thanks also to community members who turned out to support them. A special thanks to Mr. McGillicuddy who spent extra time preparing them for this great event.
Staff Updates
There are a few changes for the 2022 -2023 school year to share. Sam Prevost, 2nd grade teacher, made the difficult decision not to return to Center in order to spend more time with her family. Please join us in wishing her well. She will be missed!
Brenda McConnell, having taught kindergarten for 7 years, has decided it is time for a change and is moving to second grade. Some of our lucky students will get to have her for a second time!
Change to Tardy and Dismissal Procedures
Please come in to the office and sign your student in if they are arriving late or need to be dismissed early. A reminder that students can not be dismissed between 2:40 and 3:18.
Have a good week.
Warm regards,
Dianna and Donna
