CRES Fun Friday
CRES Fun Friday - Registration begins March 15
On Friday, April 15th all students at Cumberland Road Elementary will have the opportunity to participate in the CRES Fun Friday which will take place right after school from 3:40-5:30pm. There will be something for everyone to enjoy! Not only will students have an opportunity to dance to music from a live DJ or watch a movie while eating pizza in the cafeteria, but there will also be fun activities and free time on the playground and in the open gym. We are limited to the first 200 reservations. Look for the registration form to come home with your child on Tuesday.
This is a fundraiser sponsored by the 4th grade teachers at Cumberland Road. The money raised will be used to offset the costs related to the 4th graders' Southern Indiana field trip in May.
Spring Pictures
Spring Pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, March 29th. Your child will only have their picture taken if you order on-line or bring in the form on Picture Day. Executive Board Nominations for 2016-17
Are you looking for a way to get more involved at CRES and within the PTO? The PTO executive board member elections are currently open and nominations are due by midnight on March 25th. Included in this newsletter is a job description for each position as it is written in the bylaws. Please review each and consider if you or another parent/guardian at CRES would be a good candidate for one of more of these offices. You may nominate yourself or someone else by completing the form and turning it into the CRES office or by emailing it to cumberlandroadpto@yahoo.com .
The elections for the executive board will take place at our next PTO Open Forum meeting on April 12. Please consider partnering with the teachers, staff, and administration in serving our kids by taking on a leadership role in the PTO.
CRES Fest Sponsorship

PTO Duties of Officers
President: The president shall preside at all meetings of the general organization, its board of directors and the executive committee; perform such other duties as may be prescribed in the CRES bylaws or as assigned by the general organization or its board of directors; coordinate the work of the officers of the organization; create and appoint special committees as necessary; have the power to sign and execute bonds, contracts or obligations in the name of the organization. Term is one (1) year and no more than two (2) consecutive years.
Vice President: The vice president shall act as aide to the president; perform the duties of the president in the absence or inability of the office to serve; be a member of all committees to coordinate their work in order that objects may be promoted; act as a keeper of the CRES bylaws of the organization; recruit and identify possible committee chairs to be brought to the executive board for approval. Term is one (1) year and no more than two (2) consecutive years.
Treasurer: The treasurer shall have custody of the official documents of the PTO; be the custodian of all funds of the organization; keep full and accurate account of receipts and disbursements in books belonging to the PTO; deposit all moneys and other valuable effects in the name and to credit the organization; make disbursements as authorized by board in accordance with the budget adopted by the board, present a financial statement at every meeting and other times requested; submit the books annually for audit as defined in Article X, Section2; shall complete all appropriate tax filings for the year(s) served prior to leaving office; prepare a preliminary annual report for presentation at the final meeting and prepare all necessary material for audit at he end of the fiscal year; the audit shall be completed by July 1 following the end of the school year. Term is two (2) years but no more than two (2) consecutive years.
Secretary: The secretary shall attend all meetings of the PTO; record the minutes of all meetings; perform other delegated duties as assigned by the general organization. Term is one (1) year and no more than two (2) consecutive years.
Member at Large: The member at large shall attend all meeting of the PTO; is a voting member of the board; accepts responsibilities from the PTO assignments as delegated by the President; be a working member of at least 1 committee;

Lost and Found
If your student is missing their personal items, please have him/her take a look in our Lost and Found near the gym doors. Our Student Council will be laying our Lost and Found items in the hallway for students to look for their missing belongings before we take them to Goodwill. They will be placed there for 3 days and then donated. Please see the following dates when student items will be placed in the hallway:

Geist Half Marathon School Program
If you are interested in promoting health and wellness while supporting HSE schools, please consider joining the Cumberland Road Team for the Geist Half Marathon School Program on Saturday, May 21st. You may choose to run or walk the 5k, 10k, or Half Marathon. Our goal is to get as many teachers, families, parents, and students as possible involved. When signing up, don’t forget to enter the promotional code: “SchoolProgram”. On the registration page, please indicate that you are running with Cumberland Road Elementary. HSE21 IN ACTION!
Take a peek into a third grade block and see how technology is used as one tool to amplify instruction. Notice the variety of tools in methods that these young mathematicians use to show their thinking processes!
4th Grade Track Team
4th Grade Track is a club that is open to all 4th graders at Cumberland Road Elementary. There are 10 practices held after school beginning March 22nd and the team will compete in one track meet against three other schools on Thursday, May 5th at Fishers HS. There is a $4.00 fee (REQUIRED) to cover the cost of transportation, ribbons and post season Awards Party, as well as a $7.50 cost (OPTIONAL) if you want to order a team t-shirt. Registration ends on Friday, March 11. There are 10 different events for the boys and for the girls. Everyone that joins the team will have the opportunity to participate. There is something for everyone. This is an exciting opportunity for you to show your school spirit as we race toward victory. If you need additional information or have any questions please contact your child’s 4th grade teacher or the coaches, Mr. Greiwe and Mr. Stage.

K-4 iPad Fall of 2016
Beginning in the fall of 2016, each student in grades K-4 will use an iPad during their day at school. Families may provide their own iPad or rent an iPad from HSE Schools. More communication about the elementary 1:1 program will be forthcoming; in the meantime, please visit the HSE School Corporation website to find more information about HSE21 and HSE’s 1:1 program.
For families who choose to provide their own iPad, device requirements are as follows:
Model: (Full-sized) iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 (iPad Retina), iPad Air, or iPad Air 2
Memory Size: 16 GB or greater
Internet: Firewalls and filters will enable secure use of Wi-Fi at school. Therefore, no additional
purchase of data plans/cellular/3G/LTE connection is needed."

Spring 2016 Registration Update - Baseball, softball, soccer, and girls lacrosse have limited openings. Once divisions have reached capacity a waitlist will be started. Boys lacrosse registration closes March 14. Rugby, track and field and boys volleyball registrations are still being accepted with a $10 late fee. Contact the S.P.O.R.T.S. office for more information or visit our website, www.hsesports.org.
Boy’s Volleyball is still taking registrations for boys in 4th – 8th grade! Practices/games will take place on Sunday afternoons for six weeks starting April 17. Click here for more information.
HSE-Fishers Boys Lacrosse – 3rd-6th grade Rec Evaluations – Sunday, March 13 – HSE High School turf. Players must be registered and paid through S.P.O.R.T.S. by 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 11 to evaluate.
3rd/4th grade – 1:00-2:30 p.m.
5th/6th grade – 2:30-4:00 p.m.
