In Shocking News...

On April 25, 2015 Nepal was struck by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 and aftershocks with a magnitude of 6.7. The current death toll is 5,000 and is continuing to increase. Many people in Nepal have lost loved ones and are mourning because of this massive earthquake. The earthquake has left many people devastated and without homes. This disaster has made many Nepali lose hope.

Facts about the Earthquake:

  1. About 0.02% of the population of Nepal died in the earthquake of 04/27/2015.
  2. One of the most destructive earthquakes is called New Madrid Earthquakes which had an average of around a 7.4 magnitude. New Madrid Earthquakes' was about 2.5 less intense than Nepal's earthquake.
  3. In Valdivia, Chile an earthquake with a magnitude of 9.5 struck that can be comparable to 1,000 atomic bombs going off at the same time. The earthquake in Valdivia, Chile was 100 times more intense than the earthquake in Nepal.
  4. In Nepal the biggest earthquake is the Nepal-Bihar which had a magnitude of 8.3 in 1934. The recent Nepal earthquake is 3.16 less intense than the earthquake Nepal-Bihar that occurred in 1934.
  5. In central Oklahoma an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 occurred. The Nepal Earthquake is 12,589.25 more intense than the small earthquake in central Oklahoma.
