FFA Packed in Events in October
The award was the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts’ 2017 Indiana Friend of Conservation award. Scottsburg FFA is being honored for their continuous support of conservation practices in Scott County by their volunteerism at the Soil and Water Conservation District events and programs. On Tuesday, Scottsburg FFA took a group of 21 students and 4 chaperones to Indianapolis for the 91st annual National FFA Convention and Expo, as well as tours of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Tuttle Orchard.
The group of students left at 7 in the morning on the 24th and returned to Scottsburg around 4 in the afternoon on the 27th. On the trip, members were able to attend leadership workshops to expand their knowledge in FFA as well as, connect with other members from all over the United States. The trip was fun as well as educational with the events we attended, and the people we were able to meet.
Upon return to Scottsburg, the members that attended help set up at the fairgrounds. October 28, the Scottsburg FFA Chapter held the 2017 Beef Prospect Show at the fairgrounds. Members came to the fairgrounds early that morning to help at the Beef Show, and stayed until late that night, after the Beef Show had ended to help us serve food at the Demo that was also held at Scottsburg Fairgrounds on October 28th. Overall, Scottsburg FFA had a very eventful yet exciting week with many learning opportunities.
