Current Updates From Our School Administration

Hello Wonderful Families,
Staying healthy is priority number one! As a school, we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and what we can do to help keep everyone healthy.

You can find the latest COVID-19 Updates from our Principal on our MVA Website.

The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) announces that the Executive Committee of the Accrediting Commission for Schools has approved Initial Accreditation for Mission Vista Academy (TK - 9), from the start of this school year through June 30, 2023. Thank you to all of our MVA Families for making our school a great place and helping with this process! (As each year we add another grade level in high school, we anticipate full accreditation of all grades TK-12 by 2023. Go MVA!)

Virtual Community Connection Events

Hello Families,

We are so excited to announce that Community Connections Riverside has gone VIRTUAL! This means all the fun of Community Connections is coming to our students' home computers!

Since you can't go to CC events, we will bring CC events to you! Let's get the Community Connected Again! We hope you can join us for these FUN and FREE workshops!

Community Connection Workshop Information:

  • You will log onto each Virtual Workshop using Zoom on the day and time of your workshop: ***The Zoom link and Password for these workshops will be sent to parents through email from your HST.***

  • You do not have to sign-up.

  • Each Virtual Workshop will last around 30 min.

  • Most of the Virtual Workshops have items for the students to bring. We are hoping that we have chosen items that you will have around your house. If not, don't worry because students are more than welcome to come without items and just join in on the community fun.

  • The teacher will make sure your computer is on mute unless they are asked to share. This way the teacher is the only one talking so everyone can hear the workshop.

  • We would like to make sure that all our students attending follow these rules: Log in with their first name only and treat all the students and teachers with kindness.

  • There may be a lot of students in each workshop. Therefore, the teacher may not be able to let all the students share or ask questions.

  • Your student may come to one or all of the workshops that are offered.

Sharing the Homeschool Heart

Meet your Mission Vista Family Liaisons

Family Liaisons are homeschooling parents, just like you! They are here to support and encourage you on your homeschooling adventure. Reach out to them anytime - they can't wait to connect with you!

Robi Frederick

Robi has been homeschooling her two girls, 10 and 11 years old, from the start. She is also the wife of a very supportive hubby of almost 14 years. They are raising their children in the Coachella Valley. Her family leans toward the classical method of homeschooling, but also relies heavily on a consistent morning time/read-a-loud schedule, during which she and her children read living books that support the topics they are studying. As a homeschool parent, she tries to steer her children in the direction of becoming more independent in their studies, taking more responsibility in scheduling their work and learning to access resources, while she supports and encourages them. Their family places traveling as a priority and believes it is one of the best ways to learn about the world. They have participated in co-ops as a way of enriching their homeschool experience. Her family also fosters children occasionally, which means the family has to find creative ways to schedule themselves and educate the new children in the home. One of her favorite pieces of advice for other homeschooling parents is not to become worried by comparing their children to others, as each child learns in their own way and at their own pace. And, if there are struggles, there are endless resources available to help. They will likely look back on many of their worries, wishing that they would not have wasted their time placing undue stress on themselves and their children and that the things they were worried about resolved themselves.

Feel free to reach out to Robi anytime for homeschool support!

Andrea Hart

Andrea is a fulltime homeschooling, part-time working mother of two beautiful girls. Homeschooling has allowed their family to learn, engage, and connect in ways she never thought possible. They take every opportunity as a family to learn about the world around them, even if it's just a simple walk on the beach or a hike together in the forest. Homeschooling has given Andrea the time to practice patience, listening, and follow through when she didn’t even know she needed it. She strongly encourages any family who is considering homeschooling to do some research or reach out to a fellow homeschooling family in their area. Listen to the countless benefits and struggles they have worked through and ask as many questions as possible. While Andrea knows that homeschooling may not be the right fit for every family, she is thankful that they took a giant leap of faith and started this very special journey together.

Feel free to reach out to Andrea anytime for homeschool support!

Audrey Everson

Audrey has been a Family Liaison for the Inspire Family of Schools for the last two years, and her favorite part is connecting with parents! Audrey's family relocated to Riverside County in 2015 after privately homeschooling in two previous states. For the first few years, she researched all that she could about how others homeschool through mom-to-mom conversations, reading books on homeschooling, and learning from blogs and websites from experienced homeschool parents. Reading testimonies about successful methods of home education about typical trials and common obstacles has allowed her to think differently about what they were doing. Educating herself gave her the freedom to be the type of homeschool parent she knew she wanted to be. After hitting a few roadblocks in the beginning, she found their path with a literature-based curriculum and joined a co-op that worked for her children and their lifestyle. They have an eclectic homeschooling style, which involves mixing multiple methods and ideas. Audrey believes a community is a foundation of what a strong homeschool journey thrives upon. Connecting with the local homeschooling community was a priority not only for her children's socialization but for her connection with fellow homeschooling parents. Finding your tribe can mean the difference between feeling alone and afraid and inspired and supported. She desires to assist parents and teachers in all parts of the homeschool journey. Audrey loves to help with field trip planning, curriculum suggestions and ideas, encouragement, support, and everything having to do with building a strong fellowship of homeschool families!

Feel free to reach out to Audrey at any time for homeschool support!

Audrey Everson

Hi everyone! I am a mom of 3 awesome kids ranging in age from 11 to 7 years old. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 17 years. Having homeschooled our children over the last 8 years in 3 different states, I've found homeschooling here in California, especially with Mission Vista Academy, has been a great fit for our homeschool journey. I am grateful for our ability to homeschool so freely and I aspire to assist other families with their own homeschool adventures!
