Salmonella is the name for a large number (over 2,500) of types of bacteria. Salmonella bacteria are rod-shaped, flagellated and are known to cause disease in humans, animals, and birds. The two major diseases caused by salmonella, are gastroenteritis ( salmonella poisoning) and typhoid fever in humans.Also pregnancy often causes the mother to get all types of food poisoning, including salmonella .
