Parent Back To School Night: Wednesday, August 28th 5:10 p.m. – 7:00 p.m: The CMS faculty is looking forward to connecting with you at this important annual event. You will follow your child’s class schedule and hear about our rigorous instructional programs. Your child will bring a copy of their schedule home to you on Tuesday, August 27th. Please be sure to have your student's schedule with you as the office will be closed and we will not be able to provide it for you. Our partners in education will have tables set up in the quad. Please visit with them and gather information about all of these helpful resources. Space and time limitations require us to ask that students NOT attend Back-to-School Night. Plan to be in your student’s first period classroom promptly at 5:10 p.m.
ASB Is having a Back to School Night Triton Spirit Gear Sale! Enjoy 20% off of your final purchase!

Homework Club Starts on Tuesday, September 3rd: The City of Coronado funds our after- school homework club for CMS students. Homework Club takes place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the CMS Library. Students can access a quiet study environment under the supervision of a certificated CMS teacher. Students may come any or all days, but once they arrive, they must stay until 4:15. If a student needs to leave before 4:15, parents may pick up their student, provide a note in advance, or the supervising teacher and student may call parents for permission to leave.

We appreciate you following safety policies and protocols and encourage you to read notifications regarding new systems that may be put into place. Please remember to always check in at the front office when visiting the school. ALL visitors must present their identification in order to receive a visitor badge.
CMS Front Office Hours: 8:05 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Please remind your children to come to school prepared with all of the items they’ll need for the day. This will lessen the amount of traffic in our office and people entering and leaving the campus.

- Homework and/or medical items will be delivered to the classroom. All other items will remain in the office for your child to pick up.
- If your child has a scheduled appointment, please call the front office, in advance, to let us know.If pick up time is during PE, it will take longer for students to get to the office.
- If you're picking up your child, you will need to come in to sign him/her out.
- Cell phone use is not permitted on campus. Please refreain from texting your child during the school day. If a student needs to make a call, he/she may use the office phone.

LUNCH SUPERVISION: CMS is in need of lunch supervisors! Lunch supervisors work M,T,Th,F from 11:30am-1:30pm and W 10:30am-12:30pm. Lunch supervision helps to ensure student safety during lunchtime. Please go to edjoin.org to apply-job title is “campus assistant”.
Important Updated Bus Routes: Due to new protocol provided by our bus company, there is a strong possibility that there will be 2 bus routes in the afternoon. This is a change from the past several years. In order to be equitable, students will be divided between the early and late return on alternating days. The early/late placements will be reversed second semester. Students who take the late bus will be at CMS until approximately 4:00pm (M,T,Th,F) and 2:35pm (W), under the care of a CUSD employee. Please see the bus schedule for more details on the routes.
Students will be given their bus pass within the first week of school. Until passes are given out please see the following schedule if 2 buses are needed:
M & F
1st Bus NAB, Cays, Strand last name A-G
2nd Bus Strand last name H-Z
T,W,Th
1st Bus NAB, Strand last name H-Z
2nd Bus Cays, Strand last name A-G
Attendance: While we understand emergencies such as illness or family matters may occur, when a child misses school, they miss valuable instruction time that truly cannot be replaced. Additionally, since much of our school budget comes from the state of California, every dollar counts. We only have 180 school days in a year, so we highly encourage you to look at our school calendar and plan vacations accordingly. If your child is absent, please remember to call our registrar and attendance clerk, Lamarshell Karnas, the morning of the absence. Also, please be sure to review the attendance policy so you’re aware of California Education Code regarding excused versus unexcused absences. More attendance information can be found on the CMS website and Handbook.
Student Handbook: Please take time to review this important information and CMS policies with your child. The handbook can be found in your child's agenda.
