SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL

Our next School Site Council (SSC) meeting is Monday, January 23rd at 3pm. We will meet via Zoom (https://glendaleusd.zoom.us/j/83054465450). All parents are welcome to attend our SSC meetings.

FREE CHILDREN'S CONCERT

On January 29th, our very own primary music teacher, Mrs. Melissa Frey, will be playing in the orchestra for a free children’s concert titled, Andrew and the Mystic Trumpeter. See flyer for details.

CALKIDS SAVINGS ACCOUNT

This year, the State of California launched the California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS). CalKIDS gives children in California a jumpstart on saving for college or career training. To be eligible for CalKIDS, participants must be born in California on or after July 1, 2022 or an eligible low-income public school student in grades 1-12 in California. All qualifying participants receive a seed deposit in a CalKIDS account to help pay for future education after high school!


How to find out if your child qualifies:

  1. Visit the CalKIDS website at calkids.org/the-basics/who-is-eligible

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says “Low-income Public School Students, 1st–12th Grade”

  3. Enter your child’s 10-digit Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) number in the box where it says “check to see if your child is eligible to participate.”

  4. You can find your child's 10-digit SSID by visiting our parent portal at parent.gusd.net


Note: CalKIDS accounts for current first graders will not be available until later this spring.

Are you looking for live, funny, family-friendly entertainment in La Crescenta?Then Join Crescenta Valley for their next COMEDYSPORTZ Match in the Underground Theater at Cresenta Valley High School on Thursday, January 26, at 5:00 PM.


What is ComedySportz? - Not Comedy about sports - Comedy PLAYED as a sport! Two teams of high school "act-letes" compete for audience laughs and points while improvising scenes, games, operas, and musicals based on YOUR suggestions. The audience is always a part of the show, voting for the winners and sometimes even winding up on stage. Clean, family-friendly entertainment for ALL ages! Admission for this match is only $5! Come and support our new players and laugh with them!

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK - THANK YOU!

A big shout out to our Random Acts of Kindness Committee, led by Shannon Saltzman and Brenda Sullivan. Thank you for emphasizing the importance of kindness for our entire community and how we can lead with kindness at school, at home, and within our community! It was amazing to see the fun activities each day to spread kindness throughout each facet of our lives.
