MS AND HS CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Each group performed three musical numbers, which ranged from traditional Christmas carols to contemporary Christmas favorites.
The concert was directed by Mrs. Ashley Brown, director for both the middle school and high school bands and choir.
SCHOOL FOR STAFF
North Central Parke Schools held their first e-Learning and Professional Development Day on Thursday, December 5.
While students completed their assignments throughout the day, staff members attended various training sessions.
Teachers attended sessions held by educational consultants which addressed curriculum mapping, mindfulness and social emotional learning and information needed for working with special services students. They also had time to answer student questions, collaborate with their fellow teachers and to learn more about the Canvas Learning Program and the dual credit classes.
Instructional assistants attended crisis prevention and intervention training or completed tasks in the classrooms to assist the teachers.
The cafeteria staff members attended training sessions to update them on current issues. The bus drivers attended a session on CPR.
The professional development day provided staff members a means to complete training sessions, to learn new methods or ideas for the classroom and to provide hands-on learning.
ENERGY TRANSFORMATION KITS
Showing the Energy Transformation Kits that are being used by the sixth grade science at Parke Heritage Middle School are Lukas Harding, Kailey Seay, Mrs. Haley Roach, and Chad Truax.
In March of 2019, the Parke County Community Foundation awarded Haley Roach a grant to purchase six energy transformation kits for the sixth grade science class at Parke Heritage Middle School.
Energy is an important and relevant concept for students, but it is often difficult to comprehend without physical examples. These kits provide a safe way for students to visualize energy transformations between various sources and consumers of energy. Beyond school instruction, they are fun and inspire a fondness and curiosity of energy transformations that can extend to future careers in energy production and distribution.
