"WOLF"... IS EVERYWHERE
"Art from the bin - ETwinning Project"
The problem...
“Little Red Riding Hood, wanders off the path and picks flowers for grandmother. Humming happily, she skips the rest of the way to grandmother’s house. She does not notice the wolf has appeared…….”
A wolf which is greedy, mean and even more threatening than the wolf in all the well-known fairytales. He doesn’t “huff and puff and blow straw houses in” or “eat grandmothers”. He lurks to eat up colours and smells.
He threatens the abundance blue of the ocean and the life giving green of mother nature.
However, he should definitely be stopped. Who is daring enough to attempt it?
The action
We have all realized that super heroes and princesses exist only in our imagination and fairytale stories. What about the wolf?
We decided to look for the mean and sly wolf in the park of our village.
The wolf seems to be everywhere. He is dressed up with all kinds of litter: empty cans, plastic bottles, metal bottles, caps, old car tyres, cement pipes…….
Fortunately, the wolf has been found. We have fought with him and are beginning to win the battle.
The sculpture
The sculpture we have made from all the litter gathered at the park is the evidence of our success. All students of "Photis Pittas" Primary School have done exactly what the title of our etwinning project says: Art from the Bin! We Reused and recycled all the litter we have collected from the park to make a wonderful sculpture.
The meaning behind the sculpture.
What does the sculpture really represent? All its components reflect the real world. The tree and the path represent the present state of our environment. Litter is scattered everywhere.
However, there is hope! This can be seen in the faces of our children. The hose pipes on the sculpture represent possible solutions to the problem of pollution, including the efforts of the school, the family and the government
The protection of our environment is everybody’s responsibility. We should all take the appropriate measures either to limit ecological destruction or stop noise pollution. The water contained in the plastic bottles of the sculpture represents our efforts to inform people and encourage them to reuse and recycle. Thus, reuse and recycle opens the path to a greener and cleaner future. Our aim is to turn the planet into an eco-land, a planet free from litter and pollution.
“And they lived happily ever after…..”
The wolf will win only if we allow him. Our planets’ future is in our hands. Together we can make the difference. Are you willing to make the difference?
