West Point Middle School

News Around Campus November Edition

From the Principal's Office

Greetings Pointer Family,

We are in full swing while completing our second month of school. There are a lot of engaging activities taking place around campus. During Crab Carnival, all three principals participated in the Jail-N-Bail team fundraiser. Over $1,600.00 was collected and will be utillized for various activities sponsored by West Point YMCA. The coin fundraiser was completed and our community raised $803.68. In combined efforts with Dinwiddie Middle School, we donated over $1,500 to Jones Middle School in Jones County, North Carolina that was devasted by Hurricane Florence. I would like to thank everyone who participated as well as those who participated in the homecoming activities.

The first nine weeks will end on Novemver 5th and report cards will be distributed on November 12th. Please continue to montior your students academic progress via PowerSchool and navigate our school's website (http://wpschools.net) to locate your child's homework assignments . As we move into to the second nine weeks, our team wants each Pointer to remain successful academically. If your child has three zeros in a class, they will be assigned an After School Detention in order to complete any missing assignments. Students will be able to make up assignments quicker instead of waiting at the end of a nine weeks. When a student is absent from school, there will now be a form that students can complete indicating what assignments they missed during that time frame. The form should be taken to each teacher and signed. Due dates and any missing assignments will be located on this sheet. The form can be found here as well as on the bullentin board in front of our main office.

Continue to stay connected with our Facebook page, as we continue to tell the West Point Middle School story. As a reminder, please make sure students are dressing appropriately as the weather is starting to change. I am looking forward to continuing our rich history at West Point Public School with you and your family.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey A. Millner, Principal
