NEWS
Contribute Your Pictures and Videos
We want to include everyone, so we really need your help in making sure that you share some great pictures and videos with us!
So you can get a sense of what the end product looks like (and for some fun at the seniors' expense), here's the video from when this class of seniors were freshmen! Enjoy! https://youtu.be/MrfyWHHswQc
SENIOR Pictures and Videos
Just one of the ways that we recognize our seniors is with a special slideshow at the banquet. There are three things that we need to be able to complete the slideshow:
- We'll be shooting senior videos for the end-of-year slideshow starting next week.
- Seniors also need to submit a current portrait (can be a graduation announcement photo or a similar-style current photo)
- We also want a "mini-you pic" (something from your childhood - the more embarrassing and adorable, the better).
Photos can be emailed (Landon.Gilmore@gmail.com) or hard copies can be brought to school to be scanned and returned. ALL SENIORS need to be represented for this video/slideshow. We are requesting that all photos and videos be turned in by Friday (5/17). You can confirm your status via this Google Sheet.
Scholarship Applications
- The C. T. Aly and Eddie Lou Neel Scholarships - these scholarships were started quite a few years ago to honor two former highly influential SAISD music educators. These scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors. (PDF)
- All-State Choir Camp Sponsorships - these sponsorships are given to returning choir students who have demonstrated success and dedication to the choir department and the all-state choir audition process. A sponsorship enables them to be able to attend an All-State Choir Camp this summer to work on developing their skills and preparing the music for the coming year's all-state choir auditions. (PDF)
Paper copies of the applications for these awards will be available in the CHS Choir Hall starting tomorrow (Tuesday).
All scholarship and sponsorship applications are due no later than Thursday, May 16. Late applications will not be considered.
Banquet Reservations
Our annual awards banquet is coming up on Monday, May 27, at 6:00pm at the McNease Convention Center. We have one of the classiest banquets at CHS! Great food, fun, laughs, tears, singing, jokes, great slideshow, and lots of awards! We want you to be there and bring those that you love.
Because of the expense of the caterer and the facility, everyone attending the banquet must make a reservation (including students). Most families will have the student and one or both parents there. Families with very young children may want to consider the price per person and that the banquet is a little over 2 hours long. Students are able to bring guests (friends or significant others) that are well-behaved.
All reservations must be received on or before Thursday, May 16. Payment is due at the time of the reservation. Everyone must have a paid reservation, including choir students. Reservations are $18 per person and fundraising money in the student's Charms account may be used (if available). Reservations will become final at the end of business hours on Thursday, May 16. There can be no cancellations or late reservations after that date.
Other important information can be found on the reservation form (PDF). Again, we'll have paper copies available in the CHS Choir Hall starting tomorrow (Tuesday).
HarmoniCats Auditions
We want YOU to join the only show choir in West Texas, the HarmoniCats! The HarmoniCats is our highly select vocal ensemble that presents energetic shows with singing, dancing, cosutmes, lights, etc. Students in the group are able to earn a PE credit towards their graduation requirement, if needed.
Placement into the group is by audition only. Auditions for next year's group will be held after school on Wednesday and Friday of next week (5/15 and 5/17). We will be holding auditions for all voice parts for students currently in grades 8-11. Students interested in auditioning for the group need to come to one of the two days. Please see this flyer for more information and make sure that you have read and signed an audition packet. Please bring the signed audition packet with you to the auditions. All students interested in being in the group next year must complete an audition (this includes current members).
Spring Concert
You'll get to hear the choirs perform their award-winning concert selections along with some new, fun surprises for the end of the year. We'll also announce and recognize our graduating seniors that night. Prepare for a tear-jerker!
TRIP NEWS
We're less than 30 days out! Make sure that you have paid the final balance on your trip (check Charms). We have sent in our flight and room lists. The travel agency will be getting me itineraries, packing lists, and all the details later this week. I will get that out to you just as soon as I can...hoping for this time next week.
REMINDERS
Check Your Charms Accounts
Please remember that any outstanding and unresolved fundraisers, fees, and fines will be submitted to the CHS Hold List. Being on the hold list prevents students from purchasing parking permits, registering for classes, checking out text books, graduating, etc. If you find your name on one of these lists, please take steps to resolve it ASAP. If you think there is an error, let a director know. If you know you owe something, please get the money turned in. It will not magically go away. :)
We are asking for your cooperation to get all of these items resolved IMMEDIATELY! Thank you for your help with this.
TSSEC Contest in Austin
We have 36 students who qualified to compete in Austin at the University of Texas for the State UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest. We'll be sending more details out about that when we get a bit closer.
We will plan to leave San Angelo around 2:00pm on Sunday, June 2. We'll stay overnight in Austin and compete that next afternoon. We'll return late that evening.
Students need to make sure they have been practicing their solos and are working to present a VERY polished perfomance.
