JUMPROPE FOR HEART
Hello Families!
Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association with Jump Rope For Heart. Over the next few weeks, our students will be having fun learning about their heart with the Scare Squad while raising money to help fund lifesaving research.
Our school goal is to raise $7,000, and in addition to helping the American Heart Association, our school can earn free PE equipment. Students can earn their own Scare Squad Monsters this year by using our new mobile app (download the Jump/Hoops App (App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android) or by visiting heart.org/jump to sign up and raise money online! Just for signing up to save lives, your students will earn a glow in the dark wristband! PLUS this year, the mobile app unlocks even more fun and the Scare Squad Monsters and wristband come to life!
All donations are due by March 16th and our event day(s) are the week of March 12th. Thank you for helping a great cause!

Children, Inc.'s Extended Kindergarten Program at Stephens Elementary School is now enrolling for the 2018 - 2019 school year.
New Immunizations Required for 18-19 School Year
1. Your child has had the series.
2. If so, determine if it is reflected on the immunization record. The forms were recently changed to reflect this series so the form we have on file may not be accurate. Your safest bet is to get a copy of your child's form from the doctor and send us a copy.
3. If not, schedule the first shot now.

Potacki-Lupski Syndrome Awareness Day--WEAR GREEN THURSDAY
We'd like to introduce you to Landon. Landon is our only student at Longbranch with Potacki-Lupski Syndrome. That's a picture of him to the right wearing his awareness shirt. The awareness color for his syndrome is GREEN. Landon is like a ray of sunshine in our building every single day. His smile radiates before he even gets close to you. He's funny and caring and smart and a great friend.
Landon's syndrome is considered a rare disease. A small portion of the 17th chromosome is duplicated in utero which ultimately causes some developmental delays, particularly with speech. Students with PTLS have poor muscle tone, they may be very literal in their thinking, and may have an array of sensory concerns (sensitivity to light, very picky eaters, etc.). Students with PTLS are many times confused as having Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Here's more information about PTLS: http://ptlsfoundation.org/ptls-info/potocki-lupski-syndrome-characteristic/

Kroger Cards Help Generate BIG MONEY for Our School
Kroger donates 4% of all money you spend after you scan your Kroger Plus card as long as you connect the Plus card to our Longbranch PTA account.
If 400 families connected their cards and spent $100 a week at Kroger, each family would make $4 per week. That's $1600 a week. That's $19,000 a quarter. That's unreal. That's plain and simple easy money.
We encourage you to visit Kroger.com and create an account. Click Community Rewards. Search for Longbranch and connect your plus card with Longbranch PTA. It's the EASIEST fundraiser you'll ever participate in, period.
