Acworth Stacks
a newsletter from the Acworth Learning Commons (ALC)
Happy New Year!!
We are happy to begin a NEW YEAR at the ALC!
Claire and Haley and I have begun a weeding process this week and have made great strides on getting older, less checked out, and damaged books out of the way to help students choose the newer, nicer, more exciting books in our collection. Many of the weeded books are going into our Acworth Book Shop so that students can choose them for their classroom book boxes. These are books that are leveled by Lexile and are just right for their readers.
We have great things on the horizon for the ALC this year! Stay tuned and, as always, thanks for the continued support!

Mrs. Casey's class came in for Genius Hour Research on World War II and did a phenomenal job! The kids used the laptops and researched on many questions about the War--from Women's Roles During the War and Medicine During WWII to Specific Battles and Concentration Camps. It was amazing!
The resources we used came from Cobb Digital Library databases such as Destiny WebPath Express, Freedom Flix, Britannica Online, and Britannica Image Search. We are so fortunate to have these resources. Remember, you can always get to these resources from home....if you have questions how, please just ask at the ALC!
