Top 10 Cardinal Celebrations
2. Clinton Early Childhood Center's Parents As Teachers program received a grant from the Truman Lake Community Foundation for $300 to purchase children's books for the families they serve.
3. Congratulations to the Stock Market team of Chris Riley, Malina Clark, and Ben Burgess who won second place in the district competition of the Stock Market Game. They competed through the national online game in Mrs. House's Business Management class this spring. They will receive a medal and earned a pizza party for their class.
4. Congrats to CHS tennis player Pablo Taboas for qualifying to compete in the State Tennis Tournament!
5. CECC just completed its series of accreditation tasks and visits. Cardinal Preschool continues to be a fully licensed and accredited preschool, serving the Clinton community.
6. Best of luck to the 21 CHS Track and Field athletes who will be competing in Sectionals on Saturday. The CSD was also chosen to host sectionals!!
7. Congrats to the CHS Class of 2017 who will graduate on Sunday, the CMS 8th grade Class of 2021 who will participate in promotion next Thursday, our kindergarten Class of 2029 who will graduate on Monday, and last but not least, our littlest Cardinals, Class of 2030, who graduated preschool on Thursday.
8. Congrats to the CMS Media Center for receiving a grant from the Truman Lake Community Foundation. The grant was titled "Revving Up Reluctant Readers". The grant will provide $850 worth of high interest/lower level reading books.
9. Congrats to the CIS and CMS archery teams who competed in nationals in Kentucky last week. Both teams did amazing with the CIS team scoring its highest team score ever. The CMS team had scores high enough to qualify for the world tournament!
10. Henry Elementary is proud to report that they had a record-breaking number of volunteers enter their doors this school year. Throughout the year, 807 Bright Futures volunteers gave their time, talent, and treasure to the students and staff at the school.

Let’s Get the Basics out of the Way First!!
*What is your role in the Clinton School District and how long have you worked here? I am an Algebra 1 and Pre-Algebra teacher at the High School. I am also the Head Volleyball Coach at the High School and Head Track Coach at the Middle School. This is my second year here at Clinton.
*Why do you enjoy working for Clinton Schools? I love working at Clinton High School because we have awesome kids that we get to work with everyday. I love building relationships with them, teaching, and coaching them. We also have a great staff that has a lot of fun. I can’t ask for much more than a school that plays Harry Potter for a full week. :)
*Tell us a little about you and your family. My mom and sister are both teachers in the city. My dad is a mechanic. My oldest brother is a plumber and my other brother is a tech guy.
Now for the fun part!!
*What would you do for a career, if you weren’t doing this? I would coach at the collegiate level or be a firefighter if I was not a teacher.
*What are you most looking forward to in the coming months? I am really excited for volleyball to get started up this summer. We have a lot of 8th graders coming up to join us this year. I am also ready to get out on my boat and wakeboard as well as go bowfishing.
*Tell us one thing on your bucket list. I would like to learn to windsurf.
*Tell us one thing about you that we might find surprising. I used to do a lot of rock climbing in college.
*What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing when not at work? I like to wakeboard, wakesurf, fish, bowfish, bike, and play disc golf.
*If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mexican
*What is your most overused phrase? "Get a pencil out."
*What was your very first job? I was a carhop at Sonic in high school.
*Something that is considered a luxury, but you don’t think you could live without? Internet
*What is your must-watch/can't miss TV show? One Tree Hill and Grey’s Anatomy
*Something people are obsessed with that you just don’t get? Spinners
*What word sums up this school year? Great

*What is your role in the Clinton School District and how long have you worked here? I am the Adult Education/Financial Aid Coordinator for our Practical Nursing program at CTS. I have been here 16 years.
*Why do you enjoy working for Clinton Schools? I love how our staff is like a big family. It’s also great working with the Clinton community. We have so much support!
*Tell us a little about you and your family. I have lived in Clinton for 22 years now. I have 2 sons, a 14-year old and a 24-year old. They are my pride and joy!

*What would you do for a career, if you weren’t doing this? I would be an investigative reporter for the New York Times (my undergrad degree was in Journalism)
*What are you most looking forward to in the coming months? Not setting my alarm!
*Tell us one thing on your bucket list. To hike the Pacific Northwest Trail.
*Tell us one thing about you that we might find surprising. I am obsessed with The Walking Dead.
*What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing when not at work? Gardening, reading, walking and hiking. I like to binge on Netflix too.
*If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pasta, pasta and more pasta!
*What is your most overused phrase? "Sounds good!"
*What was your very first job? I worked at Whataburger (hey, I am from Texas) when I was 16.
*Something that is considered a luxury, but you don’t think you could live without? Unfortunately, I have to say my phone.
*What is your must-watch/can't miss TV show? The Walking Dead and The Voice

*Tell us a little about you and your family. My husband, Rusty, and I have 3 kids: Ben 30, Ian 28 and Anna, 27. My husband passed away 6 years ago after battling a kidney disease. We miss him terribly...

*What would you do for a career, if you weren’t doing this? Work on a cruise ship or be a Disney character at Disney World!
*What are you most looking forward to in the coming months? A trip to Harry Potter World in California!!! I’ve already been to the one in Florida...

Clinton Middle School is excited for the students in the Class of 2021 as the 8th grade Promotion Ceremony will take place on May 25th at 9:00 a.m. at the Cardinal Athletic Complex/Stadium. The 8th grade student speakers will be Lydia Harrison and Katie Mitchell.
Parents, siblings, former teachers, and community members are all invited to attend the celebration.
The 8th grade students were recently asked to share their most memorable experiences at Clinton Middle School. Keep reading for a trip down memory lane (due to space limitations, not all students could be included, for entire list, please see the Clinton Daily Democrat).

My most memorable moment in middle school was when we got a new library because books are my true love thanks to Mrs. Crouch and Mrs. Hetherington.

My favorite thing was being awarded a first place medal in front of 30,000 people from 15 different countries. We were globally recognized for our creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills.
