The WJHS Panther Weekly Update
January 15th, 2021
Hello Panther Community
HYBRID LEARNING MODEL STARTING JANUARY 19TH
Students will follow their Blended Synchronous (Hybrid/Remote) Class Schedule for WJHS.
We will be hybrid on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays, and (at WJHS). Typcially, Wednesdays will be WIN-sdays still, with the exception of 1/20/21 for iReady testing. Students were sent an email with directions and access to a scheduling template. HERE is a tutorial video explaining how to use the template. STAR teachers also went over this in STAR today. WIN-sdays will resume on January 27th.
If your student is returning to WJHS in-person on January 19th...
Please make sure to fill out the certification forms (hanging on our main entrance door), before sending your child to school. In order to keep the staff and students healthy/safe, it is crucial we take the certification seriously and no one enters the building if they have any Covid/Covid-like symptoms. Coninuing safe practices within the building is equally important. Specific guidance is located on the CUSD 201 website.

i-Ready Diagnostics in January
On Wednesday (1/20/21) - Students will kick off the day in STAR (attendance will be taken) and have asynchronous instruction in Science, Literacy, and Physical Education and be expected to take their MATH iReady diagnostic test. Special Education Teachers will reach out to their students.
All asynchronous instruction (pre-recorded) and may be found through Otus.
Students may take the assessment before starting their asynchronous instruction for the day, or afterward. This choice will be determined by each family depending on what is easiest. We highly recommend students take the assessment during the time of 8:50 AM and 3:00 PM so they can contact the iReady Zoom Tech Support (please see link below).

Since many of you have asked...
It has always been the plan that there will be another parent commitment survey going out in mid-February regarding the choice to be remote or in-person for the last part of the school year. These are difficult decisions that I wish none of you had to make. We will continue to do our best and appreciate your support and feedback. I wish you and your family the very best.
Take good care of yourselves and one another,
Respectfully,
Mr. John K. Jonak

Tips for parents regarding Teacher Office Hours:
Please confirm with your student that he/she is participating. Students with missing assignments or grades below a C should be meeting with teachers during this time to get caught up and receive extra help. Students with up to date assignments and grades C or above should use this time to check in with teachers, ask questions, and receive feedback.
