South Bend Symphony Orchestra

Our 4th graders had the opportunity to attend the South Bend Symphony Orchestra last week. For over 30 years, the SBSO has introduced thousands of area elementary school students to the world of symphonic music in an exciting and engaging concert designed especially for them! Students, teachers, and chaperones from 75 school groups all had the amazing experience of attending this concert.

Thank you Mrs. Thomas for coordinating this opportunity for our students!

CIS Robo-Kids!

The CIS Robo-Kids competed in the Lancer-Bot-Mania FLL event November 16th. The team received the Gracious Professionalism Award. This award recognizes a team whose members show each other and other teams respect at all times. They recognize that both friendly competition and mutual gain are possible, on and off the playing field. Congratulations to the CIS Robo-Kids!

Kindness and Compassion Drive Nov 25 - Dec 6

In order to promote kindness and compassion within

the school and community, specifically this holiday

season, we are encouraging participation in our 6th

Annual Kindness and Compassion Drive. Among the

items we will be collecting include:

  • NEW unwrapped toys and gift cards,

  • canned goods,

  • new or gently used winter coats, and

  • waterproof winter gear.

Please bring your donations to the CIS school office. We hope that you will join us and support our goal of 100% participation in any way that you are able.

Therapy Dog

On Tuesday, we will have the opportunity to have a therapy dog visit our school. Research strongly supports the use of therapy dogs due to the benefits they can provide. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Lower people's blood pressure and stress levels
  • Increase levels of dopamine and serotonin
  • Improve physical well-being
  • Decrease anxiety
  • Increase positive mood

If you would like to learn more about therapy dogs, here is a brief article describing the benefits of therapy dogs: Bringing a Dog to School

Please let your child's teacher know if you do not want your child to interact with the therapy dog.

Thank you Mr. Ehlers for allowing us to have this opportunity!
