Youth Sunday

Our youth will lead us at both worship services on Sunday. Jorja Sipe will share the message and the youth will sing, play their instruments, give the liturgy, and serve as greeters and ushers. They will share what they learned during their mission trip to Wichita Falls this summer and the God moments they experienced while helping others in the community. You won’t want to miss it!

Harvesters Small Group for Retirees

Harvesters Group to Begin New Book Study

The Harvesters will gather virtually on Saturday, August 6, for a new book study—Anxious for Nothing by Max Lucado—and are inviting other retirees to join them.

Harvesters is a group of retirees who seek to continue their faith journeys and grow in relationship with Christ through this seasoned stage of life. The group meets the first and third Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. on Zoom. Led by Jackie Lamb, the group will be discussing one chapter of the book per session, along with other current events.

About the Book | Does the uncertainty and chaos of life keep you up at night? Is anxiety your constant companion? We’ve all been there, but we don’t have to let those racing thoughts control us. It’s time to let God help you win the war on worry and start living a life full of calm.

Anxious for Nothing, from pastor and New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado, provides a practical and powerful roadmap for battling with and healing from anxiety. Combining hopeful scripture with timeless stories, Max will equip you with the tools you need to overcome your anxieties, no matter what you’re facing.

Get Involved | To join the group, contact the church office or email for the Zoom link.

New Book Study: The Big Picture

New Adult Book Study to Begin August 14

A newly released book, The Big Picture: Seeing God’s Dream for Your Life, will be the topic of discussion on Sundays at 10 a.m. beginning August 14.

About the Book | Life can often feel like a scattering of random events. The various choices, opportunities, or even pain we experience seem to have no real purpose or connection. But if we pay attention to God’s work, our lives tell a different story.

The story of Joseph in Genesis teaches us to look for the big picture in our lives. It shows us how God weaves together events that seem random into a beautiful image of joy, survival, purpose, and meaning. In The Big Picture: Seeing God’s Dream for Your Life, authors Jevon and Nicole Caldwell-Gross take a closer look at the life of Joseph to discover God’s presence in moments of triumph and trauma. See God’s dream for your life as you begin connecting the dots of God’s grace, presence, and protection.

Get Involved | Anyone interested in the study is encouraged to join the Vista Forum group in Rooms 121-122. James Kunke will lead the study and reading the book is not required for participation.

Teacher Supply Drive

Back to School Drive: Help Stock the Supply Closet for Rockbrook Elementary Teachers

Rockbrook Elementary teachers will begin a new school year soon and we are supporting the hardworking staff through a donation drive to help stock their supply closet.

Teachers often personally pay for their classroom items, so any assistance our church can provide will be greatly appreciated. This will be the 10th year that we have supported Rockbrook Elementary as our community partner.

Needed Items | Donations being accepted include pencils, staples, page protectors, correction tape, face tissue, glue sticks, electronic pencil sharpeners, invisible tape, packing tape and dispenser, masking tape, dry erase markers, sticky notes, Command Brand hooks (medium) and refill strips.

Donation Drop-Off | Purchase items from the Amazon Shopping List and have them delivered to the church or leave donated items in the designated bin on Sunday mornings. The last collection day is Back to School Sunday, August 14.

Partner with Others to Pray for the Rockbrook Staff

We are excited to enter our 10th year in community partnership with Rockbrook Elementary. To support the staff this school year, we are looking for volunteers to adopt a team. There are grade level teams, and teams for the specials teachers, cafeteria/custodial, office staff, and special education staff.

Sign up to pray for the team and their students throughout the year. A list of staff members will be sent as soon as it is available. Rockbrook staff will be given a card with the names of those who are praying for them.

Thank You Thursdays will be held again this year on the second Thursday of each month. Emails will be sent when volunteers are needed to help with an event. This is not a requirement, only an opportunity for those interested.

Mark your calendar for Back to School Sunday, August 14. The Rockbrook staff will be invited to join us in worship.
