Final Carlson Spirit Week
Tuesday - Beach Day
Wednesday - Workout Day
Thursday - Twin Day
Friday - Carlson Spirit Day
Hello Champions,
I hope you all had a great weekend. Well, we have the finish line in sight and are making our final push to finish the year out strong. The week ahead is our last full week for the school year. That’s right, only 8 and 1/2 school days left. Students' last day is May 27th and it will be a half day with dismissal at 11:30am.
This past week was filled with several events that signify summer break is right around the corner and the end of the year is getting close. First, students that were selected to participate in the virtual talent show spent time in the studio recording their acts. We would like to applaud those students for sharing their talent with all of us. And a special thanks to Mrs. Trafficante and Mrs. Malizia for organizing and coordinating this event for students and our school. Then, our 6th graders participated in their annual butterfly release. They began with caterpillars a couple weeks ago and watched their metamorphosis into beautiful butterflies. Along with the science they were learning, there was a significant metaphor in play as our 6th graders like the butterflies are spreading their wings and leaving their cocoon for Junior High. We’ve seen such growth and maturity over the years and know they are ready to conquer the next phase of growing up. On Wednesday, we held our last PTO meeting of the year and elected next year’s board members. On Friday, our 5th graders took over the MPR and set up their state fair roadshow. Each student competed a research project on one of the 50 states and created a visual display to teach our younger students all about their state. Great job 5th grade! Your research papers and presentations were filled with important facts and very creative visuals. We appreciate all your hard work. Thank you to the 5th grade team for planning, organizing and setting up such an amazing event to showcase student work. And finally, we celebrated our last group of students for this months Champions Recognition for Citizenship. Congratulations to all our winners and thank you for being such good citizens for Carlson. All in all it was another great week at school for the Champions.
Coming up this week we have our final spirit week of the year. Tomorrow kicks off with Pajama Day. Then, we have our yearbook signing parties for KG - 5th grade on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please remind your child to bring theirs to school so they can participate. On Wednesday, 6th grade will be heading to Main Event in Gilbert to celebrate the end of elementary together. We hope you all have a great time! And on Thursday we will be sending out the link to this year’s virtual talent show for everyone. And we will have our last Champion’s Assembly on Friday, virtually of course.

Thank you and have a wonderful week everyone!
Sincerely,
Mr. Morgan
