The Rideau Report

May 2022

Looking forward to the May flowers

Bonjour les Rhinos!

I want to extend a huge thank you to our school community. Our Scholastic Bookfair raised close to $3000.00 in books for the school. This is amazing. We could not have done it without the support of our volunteers and without your generous participation. Thank you!

Our grades 3-6 students deepened their understanding of inclusion and diversity through a virtual workshop on May 3. The aim of the program is to break down prejudice and promote unity through age-appropriate testimonies and activities to combat 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination, racism and bullying in school.

Saturday May 7 is our Yard Sale. This is a great opportunity to give a second life to gently used items such as kindergarten toys, clothing or small appliances. This event will take place on the track at the back of the school.

Registrations for kindergarten are open, visit the Limestone site for more information. Our kindergarten Open House is Wednesday May 11 at 4:15. Parents should receive invitations in the mail. If you have a child entering JK or SK next year and you have not received your invitation, please contact the office to make sure your registration went through.

Little Caesar orders will be delivered to the school on May 19 and will need to be picked up on the same day as we do not have the freezer capacity to keep them overnight.

May 19 is also Track and Field Day at the Caraco track at Invista. Grade 3-6 students will attend this event. Students will travel by bus. Teachers and parents volunteers will help with each station and collect information for a physical education mark and of course to qualify for the track and field team.

On May 25, we will host a Jump Rope for Heart event. Donation can be made online through this link. Classes will take turn at showing off their skipping rope skills. This should be a great day to raise awareness about heart disease and to keep our own heart beating strong. Feel free to consult the English Parent Letter.

School-Day -> we are transitioning to a new system of online payment and permission forms for field trips and events. We will introduce this gradually over the next two months for full implementation in September. More information to follow.

We are starting to look at classroom organization for next year. Please let us know if your family is moving out of our catchment area.
