Trailblazer Times

By STLP Student, Sophie P.

Welcome!

This is your March 2017 student newsletter! This month sure did come in like a lion, with a huge storm, and out like a lamb, with nice temperatures and breezes. Keep reading for more articles on what our trailblazer students accomplished this month, and other interesting stories.

Message from the Main Office

Daily attendance of all students is expected. Students should arrive to school and be in their classroom by 7:35 am.

When a student is absent from school an absent note should be turned in to the main office the day they return. Students are allowed 10 parent notes for the year, after they have used all 10 parent notes a doctor note is required for the absence to be excused. Please check your student’s attendance in Infinite Campus. If there are any unexcused absences, please send a note in with the dates clearly written on the note along with the student’s legal name.

It is the student’s responsibility to request all missing assignments from their absences.

Educational Enhancements: If your student is going to miss school for an extended time, you may wish to apply for an EHO. These applications are available in the main office and must be turned in to the main office no later than 3 days before leaving. EHO’s will not be accepted the day of an absence or after an absence has occurred. Applications are submitted to the principal for approval or denial. Students are allowed 10 days a year to use an EHO. Classroom assignments and a report regarding the trip must be returned to school to confirm the educational validity of the trip.

During state testing time EHO’s will not be approved.

Peter Pan Jr.

We started off the month with the spring play, "Peter Pan Jr." performed by the CEMS Drama Club. The play was based off of the movie, "Peter Pan". Here are a few of the moments captured from the play:

Dr. Suess Day

This month was celebrated with Dr. Suess day. First, news reporters from Channel 9 visited the school and read to some of the classes. Books that they read included "The Cat In The Hat" and "Oh, the Places You Will Go", which were both written by none other than Dr. Suess. Then school also celebrated with a birthday party in the school library, with cupcakes, lunch, and party hats.

One Awards

The One Awards are given to a group of students every month who continue to strive for excellence. Here's a look at few of this month's recipients:
