Brown School Buzz
May 30, 2023
Dear Families,
As I mentioned in our last newsletter, these last weeks of school will be full of special activities and lots more learning. The annual PTO sponsored FUN RUN was certainly an activity that provided laughter, excitement, and FUN! It was also an incredibly successful fundraising event!
Big shout out to Karla Strobel and her band of PTO volunteers who worked so hard to create an event that engaged all students in such a fun and healthy way. It was also an opportunity for friends, family and the greater community to support the efforts of the students, as well as the PTO, and the response from all of you was nothing short of AMAZING!
Donations were collected from 27 different states and countries across the world including Germany, Ecuador, South Africa and New Zealand! Together, more than $30,000 was raised to help fund events like last week’s evening with popular author Jerry Pallotta, the garden program, Field Day t-shirts and so much more!
We cannot thank you enough for supporting this event! Well done everyone!
FUN! FUN! FUN! RUN! RUN! RUN!
Third Graders are Transitioning to Village!
We are preparing for our third graders to transition to Village with a number of activities to help students feel informed and ready for their big move in September. Transition activities include school visits, meeting the principal, Q & A, talking with current students, and classroom discussions. The Village School is also preparing for next year's fourth graders and working hard on scheduling and new learning options. An email was sent to third grade families from the Village School about three weeks ago asking parents to provide information regarding electives.
In addition to the Allied Arts classes that all students participate in at Village, there is also a special elective block called EDU which stands for Explore, Discover, Understand. This is where students have the opportunity to participate in a music ensemble or a rotation class. The following links will explain more about this special block.
If you haven't yet responded, please be sure to respond to this form by Friday, June 9, 2023.
Village EDU Choice Chart and Descriptors
Thanks so much for helping us as we plan ahead for a positive and successful 23-24 school year for our soon-to-be fourth graders! If you have any questions at all, please reach out to Katie Frigon, Village School Allied Arts Lead Teacher at frigon.katie@marbleheadschools.org.
Grade 2 and 3 Folk Dancing Tonight!
Our second and third graders have been working hard and having fun learning a number of folk dances, and they are looking forward to teaching their parents and family members tonight (Wednesday) on our playground. We'll have live music provided by Jacob Bloom and his merry band who will be our "callers" and help us all learn and have some fun!
We will all gather on the field at the Brown School Playground. Please walk up the back driveway (Dartmouth Road side) that leads to the playground. The evening will begin with our second and third graders demonstrating the dances, and then they will invite their parents to join them. They are looking forward to being your teachers, and we can't wait to see them shine!
