AHS Junior, Brionie Wakooli is way ahead of her competition!
Brionie Wakooli, a Junior at Anoka HS, placed first in the 1500M Harvest Horse Show at the Minnesota State FairGrounds. Brionie was the only amateur competitor in this event. Riding her horse, Unique Gold (Zeus), Brionie was the only competitor who cleared all jumps in the time allotment. Brionie is unique in that she trains her horse herself, instead of hiring a professional trainer. Zeus was bred for competitive track racing, but transitioned seamlessly to jumping. Brionie has fostered a relationship with this one of a kind horse for three years and feels their close relationship attributes to their success.
With Brionie's success, her goal is to travel to Florida to compete in prestigious National Events.
Way to go, Brionie! The Anoka Family is proud of you!
Senior Carmen Shimek has set herself up for success with milestone!
Carmen Shimek registered 54 set assists last night to help surpass the 1000 set assist mark.
Congratulations on your achievement, Carmen! The Anoka Family is very proud of you!

What's going on in the College and Career Center?
October is College Knowledge Month
As Minnesota high school students think about applying to college, application fees should not be a barrier. There are many opportunities for students to apply to Minnesota institutions for free. Many colleges and universities never charge an application fee; sometimes this offer is limited to applications submitted online. Many colleges and universities waive application fees during College Knowledge Month (October). Some institutions use promo codes for their applications during this time.
Here is a link to free college application opportunities during October.
