Going digital!
February 2015
As you know, I love tech and I'm trying something new. So, I'm going to strive to send out a newsletter each month with points of interest. If you like this format, you can try it with your students' parents (just be sure to give a paper copy to parents without email). It even tracks how many people are opening the link to view the newsletter.

Ghost Walk: Anchor Charts
Check out what I've seen around the building. Pinterest is full of cute ideas for anchor charts, but... How can we continue creating and using anchors charts with students as a learner-centered focus? How can students create and use these charts?
ELEMENTARY ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS ENHANCED COURSE MAP STRUCTURE IN BCPS ONE
I know time is short for all of us, but here's a great chance to explore the enhanced curricular structure for BCPS course maps in under five minutes. Not only do we have access to Wonders leveled text, but we also have access to ALL McGraw Hill online leveled readers including math, social studies, science, Treasures K-6, and Spanish readers.

Can't Live Without Diigo
As we move closer and closer to the 1:1 devices and personalized learning for our students I am trying my best to become a better online reader of text. Through the use of DIIGO, I think I am succeeding. This tool bookmarks articles I read, so now I have access on any device. And best of all, I can highlight and use sticky notes as I am reading to annotate. Give it a try!

Questioning Strategies: a quick read, a quick reminder
Check out this article. From the article:
Questions and their solutions are the basis of all learning. A good question generates energy and invites exploration. It elevates a commonplace lesson to one that's holy, creating a moment a student remembers years later as an epiphany that cracked open the universe.
