Relationships

At Lakeview, we know that who students are is just as important as what they know.

The staff at Lakeview has focused on building positive relationships. There are a few ways we try to do this deliberately at Lakeview:

#1 - SM's Character Ed program - Every school in the district uses the same 5 character traits of kindness, respect, responsibility, honesty, and perseverance. You may not realize that SM is on the forefront of Character Education and has been awarded for its efforts. These character traits are the basis of positive relationships, and your students will continue to talk about them right up until high school graduation.

#2 - Lakeview's positive behavior expectations - We take time to teach students how to Be safe, Be respectful, and Be engaged in all areas of the school, including in classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, playground, office, etc.

#3 - We know that it takes trust and consistency to build relationships. Some people take longer than others. We won't stop until every student has a caring relationship because we know that meaningful learning only happens when a student has meaningful relationships.

Admiral's Shirts

Students came home from school on Friday wearing Admiral's hockey shirts. This is part of our annual Admiral's reading program. On Friday, we had a visit from Roscoe, the mascot. Many thanks to the Admiral's for their support of reading and to Ms. Swick for helping arrange the visit. Please keep the shirt safe at home because we will ask students to wear them on certain days throughout the school year.

Lakeview PTO

The Lakeview PTO had their first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 20. We had six parents and five teachers at the meeting to discuss beginning-of-the-year events, which is a great start! We are looking to increase the reach of our PTO this year, and we will need your help. PTO meetings will be the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.

Please mark your calendar for these upcoming events:

October 3 & 4 - The PTO will have a table at conferences for you to learn more about the PTO. Please stop by.

October 4 - Lakeview day at Culver's in Oak Creek - use this flyer when ordering

October 19 - Grandparent's Day. Grandparents come to Lakeview from 8:30-10:00 a.m. for this annual celebration. There are snacks, a song, and visit time in classrooms for our special relatives.

Our next PTO meeting will be Thursday, October 11th from 7-8 p.m. in the Lakeview library. We will have a representative from our district office with us to talk about the upcoming school district referendum.
