His full name was Walter Elias Disney. He was born on December 5,1901 in Chicago, Illinois. He learned to draw when he was just 5 years old. He was a life long smoker and had had lung cancer. Only 10 days after his 65th birthday he passed away of lung cancer on December 15,1966.

Mickey mouse was Walt's second character. Mickey was created on November 19, 1928. His original name was Mortimer but then was changed.

He had so many accomplishments in his life such as mickey one of his most famous accomplishments. Walt also created Disney land, and Disney world, but he never got to see the grand opening of Disney World because he died before the opening. He received 7 Emmy awards and 22 Academy awards. He also He had some obstacles like his first character, Oswald the lucky rabbit was stolen by Charles Mintz. He also only had an 8th grade education so he didn't know very much. Yet he was very successful and never gave up one thing that he said was,"All your dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them".
