Welcome, Sixth Graders!
From your Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Schramm
A Place of Our Own!
Dear Students,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to a new school year!
I am definitely lucky in each subject I teach is a particular love of mine. Picture those not-terribly-tasty Valentine’s hearts with the title of my courses on each one: Literature, Social Studies, and Film. I am particularly exciting to be teaching sixth grade Social Studies this year! Adding to the adventure will be that we are on our very own campus! I hope that you had a chance to visit last Thursday during our Open House. If you did, you have already experienced the casual, outdoorsy feel of our new middle school home!
I am convinced that you will quickly make this campus your very own. However, as we explore together our new place, I would like to offer a few tips.
One of the questions that I am asked every year is “What supplies should I bring to school?” Please see my Supplies List page if you have not already done so. Note, however, that some of you have already ordered supplies through a company that we are using; if you did so, we will be distributing your box of school supplies on Tuesday.
Lockers have not yet been installed, so until they are you will be bringing your backpacks to the room of your Small Advisory Group teacher for safekeeping. Don't worry! We will explain what that means, exactly, on the first day of school. One thing of great importance is that you bring only those items that will fit comfortably in your backpack, and that your backpack will eventually fit comfortably in your new locker. Backpack items should include your learning materials, books, and lunch.
You will travel from class to class as a group for all subjects except Math, Electives, Clubs, Spanish, and Advisory. Your class schedule should be posted on Alma, so please check it there; however, we will, of course, be helping you navigate your schedule and the new campus. So come with your best smile and your sense of adventure fully ramped up when your teachers meet you on Tuesday, September 3.
I, for one, am looking forward to it!
