Message from Dr. Burns!

Dear Families and Students,

This week, April 13- April 16 is a shortened school week because Governor Riamondo has determined that Friday, April 17 will be a school Pause Day. Here is this weeks schedule:

Big picture

The last day of Quarter 3 is on Thursday, April 16 and Report Cards will be available to families and students via Aspen on Friday, April 24. Families and students should review Aspen in addition to their Google Classrooms to check to make sure assignments are submitted. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact your teacher(s).

We are keeping close tabs on student attendance. Please contact the Attendance Office if your child is too ill to "come to school". 401.245.2010, ext 1. We will be calling homes of all students who are unaccounted for, and your call will be greatly appreciated.

The weather is beginning to warm up, and on those days without April showers I'm sure students will be anxious to get outside. I know I will be! Please remember the strict rules about maintaining social distancing.

We love you all!

Be safe, be well,

Rosemary (Dr. Burns)

BWRSD Online Tech Support for Families

Please continue to email for support during this time of Distance Learning. The email account is accessible 24 hours per day, and you can expect a response within 1 school day. The most common issue for not being able to access apps such as STEMscopes is that they may not be going in through CLEVER or that families need to have students login to the Chrome browser with their BWRSD credentials. Here are directions.

If you have a broken device please email

Google Communications

Big picture
Bristol Warren Regional School District uses Google Apps for Education (GAFE). Please ensure the device your student is using has Chrome dowloaded as the browser, it will be helpful when having to access anything related to school. All Chromebooks have Chrome as its browser.

Please check in with your child(ren) and ensure they understand the apps below- they can be found in the waffle icon located at the top right corner of the google main page.

Google Classroom

This is where all your child's classes will be. Their teachers will use this to post lessons and assignments.

Google Calendar

Students can use this calendar to see teacher invites to google meetings

Google Mail ~ GMAIL

Please ensure your child is checking their school emails DAILY. This is where important information will be sent out from staff.

Google Hangout ~ Google Meet ~ Google Chat

Google Hangouts houses both Google Meets & Google Chats

Google Meets are video chats with a group

Google Chats is a chat room (no video)

Google Drive

Google Drive is where all Google Docs & Google Sheets should be saved. They should save them to the drive instead of the device itself just in case they need to switch out their device for any reason during distance learning.

Google Sheets, Google Docs & Google Forms

Google Sheets can be compared to Excel (just has a different layout and capabilities). Same with Google Docs that is comparable to Word. Google forms can be used to take surveys, give a quiz, etc. Google Slides is similar to Powerpoint- it can be uses to make slide shows with information, videos and pictures.

Important Info from Nurse Welchman

April 2020

From The KMS Nurse

Dear KMS Students, Parents, Guardians,

I want to check in and let our KMS family know that I am thinking of you everyday during this challenging time.

If you need anything, have any questions or concerns please reach out to me. (CONTACT INFO BELOW)

Although we may feel stressed or anxious at times, there are some things we can do to help ourselves deal with this.

  1. Try and maintain a routine and create a schedule for yourself.

  2. Schedule at the same time daily the time you: wake, eat, learn/study, exercise, spend time with family, watch TV, go outdoors, and bedtime. This actually helps us stay focused, feel better and decrease anxiety.

  3. Limit TV time and online/social media time and know that some information online and on social media may be inaccurate and cause anxiety

  4. Talk about your feelings with your family at home and share any thoughts you have.

  5. Know that our state and health officials are encouraging us to practice social distancing and stay home to keep us safe and well.

  6. Share any new information with me, your Team, teacher, guidance counselor, administrator anytime.

I hope you are all enjoying remote learning and finding the positives.

Although this new way of learning remotely has its challenges, it also has its benefits.

  1. Not having to wake up so early

  2. Eating meals on your own schedule.

  3. Not having to worry about what you are wearing, how your hair looks and about that new pimple that just appeared on your face this morning.

  4. Shorter school day

  5. Going outside whenever you want….when it’s not raining. Seems like we have had more rain lately.

  6. Studying from the comforts of your own bed, couch etc

  7. Freedom to use the bathroom without a PASS

  8. Freedom to walk around without a PASS

  9. Not having to rush through the halls and worry if you will be late to class.

  10. Still being able to stay connected and in touch with friends and KMS staff online
