CLASSROOM UPDATES: 10/13/15 - 10/1615
Reading Unit: Elements of Fiction
Focus: Summarizing and Paraphrasing
Writing Unit: Investigative Journalism
Focus: Developing news-writing skills by observing the world around us.
This week students will participate in the shared reading of Flowers for Algernon. They will continue to refine their writing skills by creating a news article.
MATH 8
Unit: Multi-step equations and Inequalities.
There will be a test on Thursday. Study using pages 257 - 259(the chapter study guide.)
Advanced Math
Unit: Solving Inequalities (ch. 4)
They will have a quiz on Wednesday.
SCIENCE
Unit: Space Exploration, Rocketry, and Touring the Solar System
There is no homework planned for the week. Any in-class assignment that students don't complete must be finished at home.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Unit: The English Colonies in North America
Essential Question: What were the similarities and differences among the colonies in North America?
This week students will read the introduction and Section Two: The New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies. Students will then be divided into groups to complete an in-depth study of one of the original 13 colonies.
HW: Students will need to complete questions from sections 2 in their interactive student notebook. They will also need to complete their vocabulary assignment. All assignments are due on Friday.
