Word Work - Review - Making nouns plural
This year at school and these past few weeks at home, you've been learning spelling patterns for making nouns plural. This week we will review those patterns one a day and then on Thursday, talk about some words that don't follow a pattern. These are known as irregular (ir - not regular) plurals.
The spelling patterns for making nouns plural that you know are:
1. To MOST nouns, add an -s
2. To nouns that end in -sh, -ch, -s, -x, or -z, add an -es
3. To nouns that end in consonant -y, change the y to an i and add -es
4. To nouns that end in -f or -fe, change the f to a v and add -es
5. Some nouns don't follow any of these patterns, irregular plurals.
Today, watch this video to review Pattern 4 - changing the -f or -fe to -v and adding -es.
now, you try it!
- leaf - leaves
- knife
- half
- wife
- wolf
Also, write your sight words three to five times each.
- go

- got
- great
- help

Writing
Description of Work:
We will be writing informational texts this week. You will create your own How-To book where you will explain to a reader how to do something, how to be something, or how to make something.
You can use notebook paper (or paper you have available) or use the attachment below to print papers.
Today you will:
1. Create pages for steps 3 and 4 of the How-To you began yesterday.
Be sure to include:
-Heading
-Body/Explain each step (explain what you did and how you did it- think of all the small steps in between)
-Illustration
- Try to include a text feature we have been learning about this week.
2. Reread to make sure it looks and sounds right. Use the checklist to help you.

Math - Multiplication/Repeated Addition
Remember multiplication and repeated addition go hand in hand but in 2nd grade we only use repeated addition and groups of objects.
Watch the following interactive video. Afterward, discuss with an adult what you learned.
Activity
Today I would like for you to gather some objects to put into groups for your multiplication assignment.
For example, you can gather objects such as cheerios, beans, legos, stuffed animals, rocks or shoes.
If you cannot find objects to use, you can draw objects on paper.
Make 6 groups with 4 objects in each group.
How many objects in total do you have?
If you would like to go a step further, in addition to answering 6 groups of 4, come up with your own problem.
Social Studies
Print out the picture of the Earth below. Color it and explain how you can help it.
