Are You Looking for Something Wonderful to Read?

Sometimes you want something to read but you just don't know what to read. I know this happens to me. I've provided some lists as starting places for you. These slides are updated with the latest Bluebonnet books, the 2 x 2 Books, and great nonfiction for you. Just log into the SMH Portal, click on Lower School Library, click on Summer Reading and Math Assignments and then click on the blue tab at the top of the page that reads "Book Recommendations for Lower School". ...or, just click here.

Our Saint Mary's Hall Lower School Library Digital Resources for Summer

A link to our Flipster magazines and E-Books is on the bottom of the Summer Assignments page. The entire picture at the bottom of the page is clickable. It reads "Looking for More? E-Books and E-Magazines". Please look carefully at the passwords, as some of them are different than the usual smhlower, barons2.These digital resources are available all summer.

Sora App for Summer Use for E-Books and Audio Recordings

One of the ways to check out E-Books over the summer is through our Sora App that connects directly to the San Antonio Public Library. Students in Forms 1-5 have access through their SMH usernames and passwords. All of the 2 X 2 books as well as the Bluebonnet books are available on Sora. This year Sora is offering "Sora Sweet Reads" May 4 - August 17. There are 50 free E-Books for your children to read.

Make sure that you use the drop down menu in the left corner of the screen to access the San Antonio Public Library. You DO NOT need to use a school-issued device to access the Sora App. Just remember to use the SMH user and password.

or download the Sora app in the Apple or Google store.

Also, make a family trip to the San Antonio Public Library, one of my favorite places. (But behind our SMH Lower School Library, of course!)

Epic Books

Epic is one of our children's subscription books services which offers over 40,000 books for children ages 12 and under. Epic also has Read Aloud books and videos. While teachers receive a free subscription with a class code, parents have to pay a monthly fee of $7.99 for it. When in school, our children have access to it, but it "turns off" at 3:00. Yes, I know, I have written many emails to Epic. However, it is their policy, not ours. (They really want to sell subscriptions to parents.) If you wish to read books in Epic, you will have to purchase a monthly subscription for the summer months.
