LIFE IS SWEET AT KEITH!
Hello Cougar families!
I hope you have had a wonderful summer of fun! We are looking forward to welcoming our Cougars back into the building and kicking off another amazing year at Keith Elementary where LIFE IS SWEET!
In this newsletter, we have a ton of important information to get the year started, so please be sure to read it carefully. I also want to point out a few specific things.
As you know our building is undergoing a renovation, and it is going to be beautiful when it is all finished. This is a two-year project even though the bulk of the work is being done this summer. That means we will have small projects that are not quite finished when we start back on August 28th, and they will complete these tasks in the evenings, on weekends, and over holidays.
Our construction crews are working diligently, but this project is huge! Our staff will not be able to enter the building to unpack and set-up until August 23rd, so when you enter the building for Meet the Teacher, we kindly ask that you pardon our dust. Our rooms will not be ready and you may have to walk around boxes, but we decided we would rather meet our Cougars in person than on Zoom. We promise we will be ready by the first day of school!
.
Meet The Teacher is coming up on August 24th. During this event, you will be able to meet your child’s teacher, drop off school supplies, purchase spirit wear, join our awesome PTO and many more important beginning of the year tasks. At this event, please make sure your child’s teacher knows the method of transportation home from school. This really helps ensure a smooth first day.
Speaking of teachers, we know you are excited to find out who your child’s homeroom teacher is! You will receive an email on or before Meet the Teacher identifying your child’s homeroom teacher. If you do not receive an email, don’t worry. We will have a list at Meet The Teacher, and we will be happy to help!
Finally, on the first day of school, we will be allowing one parent to walk your child to the classroom if needed. For safety purposes, we will be asking that you pick up a sticker at Meet the Teacher and wear it on the first day. Anyone without a sticker will be asked to wait in line to get a sticker. In order to reduce crowds and get our school day started right away, we encourage our students (especially our returning students who are familiar with the building) to walk to class unescorted. We will have plenty of staff and volunteers to help if needed.
We can’t wait to see you! Until then, enjoy the final days of summer vacation, Cougars!

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
The safest way for students to get to and from school is by taking advantage of the CFISD bus service. We encourage all students to ride the bus. Please note that all modes of transportation will run late during the first week of school. This is normal and all the kinks will be worked out quickly. This year, our district will be utilizing the Traversa Ride 360 transportation system which will provide real-team information about your child's location and ETA on an app you can download. You can also click the link below, enter your address, and find out which bus your child will ride.
If you select for your child to be a car rider or hiker/biker, please read the procedures below to ensure our arrival and dismissal are as seamless as possible.
