Merry and Bright!
Two Weeks to Go
Greetings, Roadrunners!
Spend just five minutes in an elementary school, and you'll hear merriment! Laughter and excitement rings out from every corner of the building. Currently, our teachers are working with their students on our annual door decorating contest. Since we are a proud No Excuses University, our theme this year is monsters...specifically Monsters University. Our theme for the door decorating contest coincides, with a winter flair. The excitement of the holiday season, the spirited activities students are involved in, and the friendly competition only makes everyone that much more merry. Take a moment to ask your student what their door looks like. They're pretty extraordinary! I had heard about the infamous Mirage door decorating contest prior to my arrival, and was made aware that this is far above and beyond your run of the mill door decorating contest! Expect more pictures to come!
The other word in our title is bright! We have among the brightest students around! Our students are not only academically bright, but have such a high emotional intelligence too. I see acts of kindness happen with regularity. I see teachers advocate for their students, I see students help one another, and witness acts of generosity and support often. Our teachers take the time to model kindness and acceptance, and teach social emotional lessons. We consistently reiterate that kindness and good character is equally important to academic success.
As we move into the next two weeks, we will be merry...that's for sure. We will be doing so many fun things. With that said, we won't lose sight of the bright. We are committed to maximizing every learning moment and finishing this semester strong. We thank you, in advance, for continuing to help us enforce the power of education. Reading at home, practicing math facts, calculating the tax on bills, estimating the total at the grocery store, citing evidence when reading...these are all ways to strengthen our school-home connection and reinforce how powerful our partnership in education.
Thank you...you're amazing!
