Upper School Buddies and 2nd Grade Friends

This past week was a lot of fun! Each student met up with their Upper School buddy who helped them with their landscape art project in art class. We also wrote letters to second graders explaining what third grade is like. They enjoyed reading their letters to the second graders and playing outside.

Peek at the Week

Please keep practicing for the MCA test coming up at the end of the month.

LANGUAGE ARTS -

Our new reading unit is all about communities across time. This week we will be reading "Earthquake! The 1906 San Francisco Nightmare". Students will be focusing on fact/opinion and cause/effect.

SCIENCE-

Last week students read and learned about an animal's inherited and acquired characteristics and behaviors. Students are also learning about different life cycles of animals.

WRITING-

PLEASE SEE THE ANIMAL RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT PARENT LETTER. Research is due on April 18th.

Last week we focused on conventions including quotation marks and commas in a series. Ask your child to practice writing dialogue and make their punctation "sounds" for you! They really helped students remember the punctuation marks and are hilarious too! Students will start writing their own creative piece of work with dialogue and editing their work.

SPELLING-

There will be a test on Friday on Unit 5 Lesson 3. Students should be studying their spelling words each day. They can use https://www.spellingcity.com/ndonnay/ . Test fixes are due each Monday.

CHARACTER EDUCATION -

Each month students should bring in an example of the monthly character trait to hang on our class bulletin board. April's trait of the month is COURAGE. Ask your child how they can show courage at school and at home. COURAGE bulletin board items are due on April 15th.
