PIoE Supper Seminar Series
2015 - 16
At the end of last year there was considerable interest expressed by our partners for events sharing PIoE research work and hosting visiting speakers. As a result of this we have developed a Supper Seminar Programme with short talks by some of our research active staff on their current projects. With the new year we have added visiting speakers to give a national / international perspective on current educational themes.
These are open to all staff, students and partners. Light refreshments will be available.

Naomi Flynn speaking on: Communal constructivism as a framework for knowledge mobilisation through online learning spaces
I will explore the notion of communal constructivism as a framework for knowledge mobilisation through on-line learning spaces. The aspiration that the teaching profession in England might be better informed about research and actively engaged in research has been prevalent in political commentary for several years. Alongside this there has been academic discourse developing the notion of knowledge mobilisation; a notion that explains how research findings might become active in teachers’ pedagogical choices in the classroom. However, there is as yet no clear empirical basis supporting a view of how knowledge mobilisation to support research-informed practice might best be achieved.
