NOTRE DAME CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL

Foundations for Life Long Learning - 21 JUNE 2018

A Prayer For Charity

God of mercy and compassion,

We praise you for your goodness.

May your will be done on earth

As it is in heaven.

Fill us with the spirit of loving service

As we recognise in those we meet

The face of Jesus your Son.

Through the generous work of our LifeLink welfare agencies,

May burdens be lifted from the shoulders of your people,

And may they feel the warmth of your kindness and love.

We ask this through Christ our Lord

AMEN

Dear Parents

Well done to all students who attended the Cross Country Carnival at Tomato Lake last Thursday. The students tried their best and conducted themselves in a manner which demonstrated good sportsmanship, focus and determination. We were certainly blessed with good weather on the day. Thank you to all parents, families and staff who assisted on the day and thank you to Mr Webb for coordinating the event.

SEMESTER REPORTS

  • Appointment bookings with teachers went live online last Friday via Parent Teacher Online. If you have experienced any difficulties in booking your interview times please contact the school office for assistance.
  • Semester One Reports will be available online from 4.00pm tomorrow afternoon via SEQTA.
  • School finishes for the children at 12 noon next Wednesday, 27 June. Please collect children promptly.
  • Interviews with teachers commence at 12.30pm with the last interview at 6.30pm.
  • Please keep to the 10 minute time frame for interviews to allow all parents equal opportunity to speak with teachers. If you require more time please arrange this with the teacher.

WHY DESCRIPTORS?

Content descriptors are featured in semester reports at Notre Dame Catholic Primary School. Descriptors assist parents in understanding what your child is learning each semester in each learning area and correlates with the Western Australian Curriculum. The benefits of using descriptors are:

  • Clarifying each Learning Areas’ expectation. Allowing parents to know what has been assessed
  • Allows teachers to specifically program for assessments and evaluation with the content of the Western Australian Curriculum
  • The grade on the report reflects how well the student has met the requirements of the indicators.

END OF TERM 2

Term Two concludes for the children next Friday, 29 June. To celebrate the end of another successful Term children and staff are invited to wear neat, casual clothes. We would appreciate a gold coin donation, for the privilege, which will be donated to LifeLink in aiding their Winter Appeal. Term Three commences for children on Monday, 16 July.

Community members are invited to join us tomorrow for the Pre-Primary M Assembly in the Multi-Purpose hall at 8.45am. It is at the assembly that the major prize of a bike, donated by Cassie Rowe, will be raffled by our P&F as a part of the Lapathon. We thank, Cassie, for this generous donation.

Best wishes and God bless.

Year 1 Class News

Year 1’s and their teachers deserve a holiday!

What a term it has been.

We have both performed our class assemblies, had two weeks of swimming lessons, a liturgy with Father Quynh, a lapathon, we were excited to smile for our first school photos in our school uniform and we put our pedaling skills to the limit by riding a bike that powered a smoothie machine to make delicious healthy smoothies! PHEW!!

Enjoying our healthy smoothies.

It was hard pedaling the bike so that it mixed up the fruits. The smoothie was very healthy and yummy.

Mila(1M)

It was super funny when Mrs E went on the bike. She had to pedal to make it work. The smoothies tasted super good.

Isaiah (1P)

People rode the bike. It went fast and the wheels were spinning. It made a low sound. It was a tasty smoothie.

Paul (1M)

The smoothies tasted amazing. I drank mine outside with my friends.

Paige (1P)

God gave us a wonderful world to live in. It is up to us to take care of it.

Big picture

Thank you God for the beach. I like the sand. Beaches have shells. It has waves and it has fish.

Luke (1M)

Thank you God for the rainbows because they are pretty.

Abigail (1P)

Thank you God for sunsets. Sunsets have colours. Sunsets are seen at night. Sunsets are beautiful.

Tilly (1M)

Thank you God for dolphins because I like how they leap out of the water.

Chace (1P)

We wish everyone a relaxing, safe and enjoyable holiday.

NOTRE DAME KNITTING GROUP

This term has been an enjoyable experience for our small group of keen knitters. We have been meeting every Wednesday and Thursday in the Library busily knitting squares. The squares are then joined together and made into knee blankets. These will be donated to The Little Sisters of the Poor in Glendalough. If you like knitting and would like to donate squares for our cause you will require 8 ply yarn and size 4mm needles. You need to cast on 30 stitches to knit your square. Any donations of yarn and squares will be gratefully appreciated. These can be left at the school office.
