ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families,
As part of our learning programs, our CCS teams occasionally take their learning on the road! Field trips and place-based learning offer unique opportunities for students, as they provide a social experience in which students can explore novel artifacts, ideas, and phenomena in authentic settings. CCS encourages its teachers to identify and pursue opportunities for field trips that encourage students to make connections and deepen understanding within their units of study as well as trips that provide exposure to content and experiences that are not a frequent or consistent part of the lives of our students. Off-site learning reinforces what children have done in the classroom and sparks curiosity by applying it through hands-on applications.
Here is a sampling of recent and upcoming CCS field trips:
Grade 4 Field Trip Supporting Vermont Studies
Lake Champlain Maritime Museum
Shelburne Farms
Grade 3 Supporting Study/Wonders of Charlotte & Vermont Studies
Walking trips to Philo Ridge Farm (see side picture)
Shelburne Museum
Shelburne Farms
Another opportunity to spark inspiration in students is for parents to volunteer and share their expertise in the classrooms. The CCS Parent-Teacher Organization has generously hosted a number of welcoming activities for our community. As members of the PTO, we always welcome and hope you find opportunities to participate. Last week, our PTO held two sessions focused on volunteerism and opportunities to support enrichment activities for students. Here are links to additional information regarding volunteering in our school (with classes and with PTO) and required paperwork for all volunteers and chaperones:

We wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Kind Regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra

This special event will be held at Camel’s Hump Middle School on Friday, November 8. Students will combine with musicians from throughout Chittenden County, rehearse with a guest conductor and present a concert that evening. We are proud of you all!
LOST AND FOUND
Our Lost and Found tables are starting to fill up! Lost and Found is in a new location this year - in the lobby/atrium by the MPR. Please look there if you are missing clothing, shoes, lunch boxes or other items. Periodically, we clean these tables out and donate items to Goodwill. Additionally, we are finding lots of clothing on the bus, the playground, and in the cafeteria - many items do not have student names in them. If you can put your child's name on their clothing, that is a huge help - especially layering items like sweaters, hoodies, vests, and coats.
Thank you! Our next clean-up date is Friday, October 25th.
COMMUNITY BUDGET INPUT WELCOMED
If you were not able to attend the Community Budget Forum on October 7th, it's not too late to share your thoughts. Please be a part of the process and provide your input by filling out this form (http://bit.ly/CVSDBudgetInputOct2019) by October 15.
