JTS: On the Go and In the Know

October Updates

Greetings

Can you believe we are already a couple of days into the month of October! Where did the time go? JTS has done a lot in the past 6 weeks; participated in Fall Fest, Kick-Off, Team meeting, Time Management workshop, classroom visits, student meetings and there is more to be done!

Thank you in advance for all that you are doing to lead our students to success.

Success Coach and Student Partnerships

We have had an overwhelming response of self-referrals! There are currently 141 students assigned to Success Coaches. All coaches have been assigned at least two students; check your To Do List. If you haven't had the opportunity to make your first contact, now is the time! If your students have not responded, you may want to follow up via phone. Also, don't forget to enter notes. A few coaches have already met with and/or arranged for face to face meetings with students; awesome job!

In the event that a student rejects services, is no longer in need of service, or you are unable to contact the student, please let me know so we can close the case.

Events

JTS Meeting

We will meet on Friday, October 19th, at 10:00 in room B269. Special topics will include Coaching and Community Resources.

Let's Talk About It

This semester, many students are expressing a need for 'belonging'. I am in the process of planning an event that will allow JTS students to meet and interact with each other while discussing issues pertinent to success in small groups. If you are interested in being a small group facilitator (guiding questions will be provided), please let me know. More details coming soon.

Test Prep & Study Skills Workshop

JTS is partnering with the Learning Center once again to host a Test Prep and Study Skills Workshop on Wednesday, October 31st, at 11:15 in room B269. Please share this information with your students.

JTS Kick-Off

JTS Hosted Kick-Off events at both the West and Downtown campus during the week of September 17th. Over 50 students attended the events and 20 students requested Success Coaches. A special thanks to JTS Faculty Cassandra Bowell for bringing her math class to the event and the JTS Success Coaches and Faculty that attended the event.
