From the EWSD Health Offices
As we see cases of COVID-19 across the EWSD school district, the school nurses would like to provide the following reminders:
Please keep your student home from school if they have symptoms related to COVID-19.
Rapid test kits are available in each health office for symptomatic students.
Let your student’s school nurse know if your child tests positive for COVID-19.
Positive students can return to school after day 5 of the illness. Day 0 is the day symptoms begin or the day of a positive test if there are no symptoms. That means returning to school on day 6.
Students with symptoms who are not tested, or test negative, can return to school when they are fever free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours, free of vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours, and all symptoms have significantly improved.
It is recommended that when returning to school after a positive test, a mask is worn for an additional 5 days.
COVID vaccines and boosters help reduce the severity of the illness.
Reach out to your school nurse any time you have a question about your child’s symptoms.

EWSD Equity Advisory Committee Application
With the June 2021 adoption of the Equity Policy by the EWSD Board, District leadership established the EWSD Equity Advisory Committee. The Committee is charged with "the development, monitoring, and adjustment of the procedure for implementation of this policy." The Equity Advisory Committee provides ongoing feedback to EWSD leaders in order to implement, operationalize, monitor, and evaluate the District's equity goals.
As the 22-23 school year begins, District leadership wishes to add to the committee membership. All parts of the EWSD community (i.e. community members, EWSD employees, and students) are encouraged to apply. To apply, please complete the application by September 30, 2022. The committee will meet monthly across the school year beginning in October. Members of the Committee will receive $50 stipends for each meeting, including any additional meetings needed.
Questions may be sent to Erin Maguire, Director of Equity & Inclusion at emaguire@ewsd.org, or Sarah Warrington, Executive Assistant to the Director of Equity & Inclusion, at swarrington@ewsd.org or call 802.857.2007.

It’s National Arts in Education Week! Here are ideas for art activities that can be done in various settings.
Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 and runs through October 15. The month is designed to recognize the contributions of Hispanic-Americans — specifically, those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The awareness month begins on September 15 which is the independence anniversary for Latin American countries El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras.
