A message from Fr. Joe
Dear Parents,
Our kids are great! I had mass the other day with the 2nd graders in the school chapel. The gospel of the day was about a master who loaned a sum of money to three of his servants in different amounts according to their abilities. Two of them doubled the profit while the other returned the sum unaltered, for which he was severely reprimanded by the master for his laziness. As a gimmick, I gave three of our children a faked $100 bill, asking them what they would do if they could spend it the way they wanted. One child said, ‘I would buy food for the poor’, another said, ‘I would help others” and the third child was not sure, but would not keep it for herself. Amazing! Second graders have already learned the value of charity!
Our school stands for values that are Christian, and charity is an important one. You certainly heard that our children turned in to Helping Hands Thanksgiving Project over 6,000 cans of food. They did not do it to receive a “dress down” day as a reward. They did it for humanitarian and spiritual reasons. This is an important facet of Catholic education. You, parents, sacrifice a lot for your child to be at St. Jude. So, what is your thought when you hear a story like the one above? Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Weekly Update from Mrs. Hibler
Dear Parents:
As we head into Thanksgiving break, I would like to invite you to participate in the 3rd Annual "We Give Catholic" day of giving, held on Tuesday, December 3rd. All proceeds raised on this day, go directly to enhancing our STREAM Academy classes and much more. Due to the hands-on nature of these classes, supplies are always needing to be replenished. 100% of the funds raised on this day go directly to the continuation of these programs and more. We are blessed to have a faith-based Catholic education as well as learning opportunities outside of the traditional class offerings. Won't you please consider a donation for this state-of-the-art learning experience offered here at St. Jude School? As this date grows closer, additional details on how to donate will be available.
I hope you and your family have a relaxing Thanksgiving filled with good food and much laughter.
Godspeed,
Mrs. Molly Hibler

Helping Hands News
On behalf of St. Jude Church Helping Hands Food Pantry, I want to extend our thanks to the students who gave up their Saturday this past weekend to help us serve 277 families at our Thanksgiving Distribution. I also want to thank Mr. Kovacs and Boy Scout Troop 133, who assisted us Tuesday night when we served 150 families. The kids worked tirelessly and with such great spirit. They are a true blessing, and we are grateful for their help. They deserve recognition and commendation for their efforts. So, if you see Andrew, Owen, Valerie, Kayla, Gavon, Lucy, Kaitlyn, Mallory, Natalie, Kenya, or Joseph...or any member of BSA Troop 133...please offer our thanks for their assistance in helping us help others.
Additionally, your food collection was an absolute success! We had more than enough groceries for the 427 plus households that came through on both Saturday and Tuesday. We will have an extensive amount of canned and dry goods to stock our shelves with for the coming months, thus saving us dollars in the long run, dollars that can be put to good use in another area.
Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to provide not only food to our neighbors going through difficult times but also a measure of hope. That means a lot to any family in tough circumstances. Your students play an integral part in the purpose of our mission.
When children volunteer at an early age, it infuses in each student that "attitude of gratitude" and "giving back to the community," which are the essential elements in creating that volunteer spirit in adulthood.
Thanks for encouraging it in the young people at St. Jude School.
God's Blessings on you and your families this Thanksgiving Holiday!

St. Jude Cub Scout Pack 133 will be placing wreaths on veterans' graves at St. Mary’s Cemetery, and hopefully at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Elyria. A sponsored wreath is just a small $15 donation and will help the scouts Remember the sacrifices our veterans have made. We will honor their lives in conjunction with the National Wreaths Across America event at Arlington National Cemetery on December 14th at 12 p.m. Your sponsorship will not only allow us to place a wreath, but it will assist us in restoring some of the headstones that have gone in disarray at these two cemeteries. Several of our Civil War, Spanish War, and WWI veterans' markers are slowly disappearing in the dirt. This will be a joint effort between the scouts and the students at St. Jude School as we Teach them the value of freedom.
Please consider sponsoring a wreath. Donations can be made online directly at our sponsorship page at Wreaths Across America. Our group fundraiser code is OH0127P.
