October's Bright Lights
As the days grow shorter, what do we do to adjust?
Gym Update
I know that our kids, Ms. Monson, and Ms. Luberda have been doing a terrific job going outside for physical education during the renovation of the gym. I truly appreciate their efforts and willingness to learn outside. The weather has been ok to great. We have been lucky. The gym floor is now getting the finishing touches of paint-striping, endlines, and sidelines. The bleachers will be installed soon. The scoreboards will be coming soon. Thanks again for having the right clothes for the kids to wear outside for class.
On the road to learning.. . .
Over the past three days I have been learning about being a better principal for our school community. I learned about many terrific topics regarding great teachers, great teaching, and more learning by our students. The statewide principals' conference in Appleton was filled with ideas and techniques, and stories about what other principals are doing to be better for their schools. The "What Great Educators do Differently" Conference in Lincolnshire, IL on Friday and Saturday had exciting speakers share methods to bring out the best in our teachers. I was joined by a team of teachers and I am very grateful for them to give their time for this opportunity.
A little reminder. . . . about a couple of events
Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming in early November and we will have one evening for you to shop during our conferences. More information will coming soon.
Our PTO is sponsoring a wonderful evening of events on Oct. 31. Please be on the lookout for the information about the activities that evening-FUN!
November 2 is our first Literacy Night. Please make sure you circle the night on your calendar to learn more about reading and your child's development.
Biographies are fun to read-see below from a second grader.
Assembly this Past Wednesday
Hey there, did your child or children come home this past Wednesday afternoon to tell you about the assembly? If not please ask them what they learned. We sat in a "U" shape to help with the kids getting closer to me and more chance for getting our message. We talked about getting Mustangs, having celebrations, and how we can make sure we work toward the following the Merton Way. We also learned about 1-2-3 in leaving the cafeteria after lunch-maybe ask them what this means. I sure hope they can tell you-if not please give me a call-I believe they will!!!
