Happy New Year Message - 2016 Begins......
On Monday morning we will open our doors to welcome students and staff to the new year. I trust that your holiday break was restful and you were able to enjoy family, relax and rejuvenate.
Now….. it’s time to continue what we started with increased enthusiasm and strength. Together, we will continue to develop our students into CHAMPIONS as we focus on improving student and family engagement, implementing the VA SOL’s through engaging lesson, and creating and maintaining our high expectations for school culture and climate. As a team we must commit and be determined to delivering excellence in instruction, school safety, respect, accountability, and student support.
As people often make resolutions and goals for the new year; it is also a perfect time to create them with your students. Our students have been away from us for two weeks and will need a “refresher” on our expectations. January is a perfect month to reteach expectations and set goals for learning, grades, and student behavior. Let’s work as a team to recommit to being visible at our doors and in the middle of the hall during every class change. In addition to your visible presence, please talk with students to reinforce our expectations, build relationships, and usher them along to class. When we are united in a vision as a team our students live up to and exceed our expectations. But we must tell and model what we want to see and follow through by being consistent in holding our students to a higher standard. They can do it!
January is a serious and pivotal month that sets the tone for the remainder of the school year. It is also a perfect opportunity to set the “RESET BUTTON” for students. Taking the time to do this now will assist us in making it through the long stretch to Spring Break, SOL’s, and the end of the school year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any administrator. We want you to be successful. We are here to support and assist you!
Let's work together to help our students EXCEED OUR EXPECTATIONS!
Welcome back!
Admiral Pride Staff Member Of The Month - January
