A Note from the Principal's Office
April 21, 2019
Dear PES Families,
Ah! What a difference a week makes. Last week I wrote this watching the snow fall, today is a beautifully sunny day with families playing outside. I'm ready for more days like today! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and found last Friday to be another successful eLearning day. Just a reminder that school is open and in session tomorrow. This day covers our final make-up day from the winter school closings.
- Did You Know that every Friday the students in the extended resource room take some time to reflect on how their week went, as well as focus on setting goals for the following week? They use a 5-4-3-2-1 prompt for their reflection. The students are asked to write down 5 things that made them smile this week, 4 words to describe their week, 3 things the plan on doing over the weekend, 2 things they learned this week, and 1 goal they have for next week. This is a great way for students to remember and focus on what they learned during the week on what they learned during the week and also take the time to think about something they would like to accomplish next week! Thank you to Ms. Interrante and her team for supporting our students through 5-4-3-2-1.
- This Wednesday we celebrate Administrative Professionals Day. PES is fortunate to have two amazing women running our front office. Thank you to Mrs. Terry Maly and Mrs. Sandy Nichin for your smiles, your laughter, your dedication to our school, and your willingness to do whatever it takes to make PES a great place for students, staff and families.
- All School Picture was another success thanks to the planning of Mr. Emso and Mr. Woltman. Thank you to Mr. Ralph for helping take the final photo! Look for a special QR code in this year's Yearbook to see the making of the all school picture.
- Summer Academy 2019 is still open for registration! Please visit the district website for more information on course offerings and to register. http://www.d107.org/Parents/Summer-Academy
- IAR Testing went smoothly last week. Thank you to our 3rd and 4th graders for their focus during testing and to our parents for helping prepare their children for these tests. Make-up testing for any student who missed a testing session will continue this week.
- Field Trips for many grades are coming up over the next 2 months. Our teachers plan these experiences for our students as another way to enrich the curriculum and your chid's learning. Many of these trips have a fee associated with them which covers the cost of admission. Should your family need assistance covering the cost of a field trip, please contact me directly. I am more than happy to work with families to help all children experience the field trips.
For our students,
Ms. Tomei
