Hurricanes need...
To make a hurricane you need an ocean in a tropical climate. A hurricane is low air pressure that forms over this tropical ocean. Hurricanes form over the warm waters of the ocean when and only when there are large pressure and tempature differences between the warm water and the clouds. These clouds pull the moisture and the air toward themselves which creates a column of fast-moving air.
How to form a Hurricane
These steps (1-5) will end up forming a hurricane.
The Eye
The eye is the calmest part and can be up to 20 miles. In the eye expect low winds and clear skies.
Destruction
A hurricane can cause a ton of destruction.
Hurricane Katrina
Katrina was a category 5 hurricane. It formed on August 23, 2005 and dissipated on August 30, 2005. It's total property damage was estimated at $81 billion. At least 1,833 people died in the hurricane and subsequent floods, making it the deadliest U.S. hurricane since the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane.
For all these reasons it was a natural disaster.
