DPS 109 Re-Entry News Update
March 1, 2021
SHIELD Test Gets Emergency Use Authorization
The University of Illinois System received emergency use authorization (EUA) today from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for covidSHIELD, its innovative saliva-based COVID-19 test that DPS 109 is currently using. Previously, a positive SHIELD result would have required a follow-up PCR test outside the district office to confirm the positive result.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Any positive results turned up by the SHIELD test can be considered diagnostic (an official "diagnosis") of COVID-19.

REMINDER: No news is good news. You will not be notified if a SHIELD test is negative.
