Principal's Den
Have you about all of our new playground equipment? Last school year with the help of all Sunset Valley families, our PTA purchased a tether ball, a funnel ball and a gaga pit for the playground near the basketball court. They also purchased a funnel ball for the kindergarten playground too.
The Gaga Pit will be installed very soon! You may be asking, "what in the world is a Gaga Pit?" Gaga is a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players the better! Dubbed a kinder gentler version of dodge ball, the game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees. Players need to keep moving to avoid getting hit by the ball. Fun and easy, everyone gets a serious workout.
Please check out the Parent University schedule below. Parent University is a time for you to visit your child's grade level and learn about all the great things that your child will learn this school year. You also have many other sessions to attend at the times listed below. Kindergarten parents, information about Kindergarten was shared at your scheduled orientation on August 7th however there are other sessions available for you to attend if you are interested.
We hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Early Voting in Keller ISD 2018 Tax Ratification Election
Early Voting in Keller ISD 2018 Tax Ratification Election will begin conclude on Tuesday, September 4.
Here are the FACTS about KISD Swap & Drop...
Who Can Vote in the Keller ISD Swap & Drop TRE?
- Myth: I don't live in the City of Keller so I can't vote in the Tax Ratification Election.
- Fact: Keller ISD elections are not City of Keller elections. All community members who live within Keller ISD boundaries and are registered voters are able to vote in the upcoming TRE election or any other Keller ISD election. Keller ISD includes portions of the cities of Colleyville, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Hurst, North Richland Hills, Southlake, Watauga, and Westlake, and the entire City of Keller. Not sure if you live in Keller ISD boundaries? Check your Tarrant County property tax statement and look for the school district that is listed.
Where am I Able to Vote?
- Myth: You must vote at a specific location during Early Voting.
- Fact: There are two Early Voting locations within Keller ISD during this election – Keller Town Hall and Summerglen Library. Any registered voter in Keller ISD may vote during Early Voting at either location.
- 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, August 24-25
- Closed Sunday, August 26
- 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, August 27-31
- Closed Saturday-Monday, September 1-3
- 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 4
- However, if you vote on Election Day, you must vote at your designated voting location by precinct. Click here to find your polling location for September 8.
How Can We Be Sure the I&S Tax Rate Will Be Lowered if the TRE Passes?
- Myth: Just because Keller ISD is in a position to lower the I&S rate to $0.34 does not mean they will.
- Fact: Keller ISD Board of Trustees adopted a resolution stating that the Board will reduce the I&S (Interest & Sinking) tax rate thereby lowering the overall tax rate if the voters approve the tax ratification election to increase the M&O (Maintenance & Operations) rate. Click here to see the full resolution.
- Additionally, the ballot itself includes language that states the proposed overall tax rate is $1.51 (currently the overall tax rate is $1.52) and will be an overall decrease of $0.01. Click here to see the sample ballot language with explanations.
Election Day will be Saturday, September 8. Watch the video below for more information or visit KellerISD.net/SwapDrop for more information about the TRE.
